HugoLuman steps in, looking the grit coating the floor. "Think there more statues here before?"

**Yes. The first time I looked in there, there were a couple white ones. Now there aren't. This doesn't bode well...**

"I bet everyone here five bucks that we have to either climb up or kill that statue to open the door."

**I don't actually have any money on me, but that seems pretty likely.**

Kyle looks at the statue for a moment before sending a shadow clone at it.

[WillowLuman]

"Damn, I was hoping it would just be a nice puzzle. I feel pretty weird about us killing the only thing that's talked to us so far." He rubbed his face. "Actually, I just feel weird. So, you want to see if it starts moving?"

[Arcvasti]

The clone goes forth unchallenged until it gets into a square adjacent to the statue with the crown. Then the three smaller statues start moving and one of them dissipates the clone. Then they slowly start advancing towards the party, having identified them as threats. The statue with the crown remains unmoving, staring stoically at the united Bay12ers.

**That's not a GOOD sign...**

"Shit. I don't think we have anything that can break stone. Maybe they'll follow chess rules if we hop into place?"

[Propman]

Propman was listening to the conversation taking place behind the door.

"They could likely use our help, lads." Said he, referring to the large group of b-12ers that were despondently staring at the door in front of him. None of them said a word.

"Crikey, you people are more statue then the statues that those blokes are fighting."

Propman took a deep breath, relived that he wasn't breathing in the refuse from the earlier rooms, and slowly opened the door. He slipped into the scene unnoticed before the door slammed shut behind himself. In hindsight, perhaps a better idea would have been to open the door from its unlocked end and let the part escape, yet Propman was too busy scanning the scene ahead of him to curse himself of that malthought.

"Bishop to d1?"

Nevertheless, he still believed that his current course of action was very, very foolish.

Kyle backs away from the statues.

HugoLuman drops his spear, knowing it wouldn't do much good against stone, and grips his hatchet with 2 hands. Then, hoping, he steps into one of the squares at the back, across from the statues. "Got another clone?"

[Propman]

Propman glanced at his own spear, and wished he had his hatchet, in spite of the fact that it had a terrible rubber handle that made it liable to slip, something which annoyed him a great deal when chopping down hardwoods like spruce. He tried to scan the room for anything of possible use, but all there was that could be lifted was marble dust and sand.

[SOLDIER First]

SB waits for someone to direct him.
I he was never good at chess...

Arcvasti steps into place next to the rest of them. The statue with the crown, despite not moving, seems to imply that it means something like "Very well. You play on my terms now.. The smaller statues, the pawns, reform in a standard defensive position near what you now suspect is the king. Some of the black sand on the ground reforms into some other giant chess pieces. They seem barely held together and almost swirl a little bit. The king statue's same expressionless face almost seems to taunt you: Your move, invaders.
