http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2014/08/12/space-hulk-ascension-edition/Sooooo....yeah. Not quite sure how to classify this. I suppose it's a new game since it's a standalone but I don't feel like it warrants a new thread. The developers say it's not intended to replace the original Space Hulk: Deathwing game they made. One is a faithful adaptation of the board game in video game format, the other is a video game based on the table top game, but more video-game like.
The "Ascension Edition" will feature a lot of new stuffs, turning classic Space Hulk into more of an RPG experience. You can rename all your squad members, they gain xp, learn new skills, can change loadouts and customize the look of your terminators. Ascension will feature the Ultrasmurfs (yawn) as the chapter of note. Rather than just full missions, you can play mini missions as well. The game will also feature combiweapons and genestealer variants to fight.
It will also include all DLC from the previous title for Blood Angels and Space Wolves, making for like 100 missions total.
Sounds pretty enticing. I didn't spend a whole lot of time playing Space Hulk, I bought it mainly just to have it. Don't know if I'll run out to buy this but I like the idea of leveling and customizing my terminators. And not having to play full missions also sounds pretty appealing.
The Ascension Edition is due to ship sometime between October and December of this year.
