Looks more like a storm thread to me...

Semantics = heresy.

Besides, a Storm Bolter could be seen as just a combi-bolter with another bolter on it.

That does look pretty snazzy.

They really, really, really need to cut back on the chatter. Especially as there only seems to be two lines they actually say. Other than that though it looks pretty good!

I'll agree with that. The chatter got annoying.

Chatter got annoying and there's not enough variety in the voice actors and lines.

As one of my friends put it "It's like a Space Marine game of one-up-manship." "Xenos approaching." "Xenos approaching." "Xenos approaching."

Hahaha that's exactly what it's like.

Other than that it looks pretty good though - there seems to be the right 'feeling' with it both in terms of aesthetic and game play. I'm hoping they manage to shake it up enough in terms of environment and enemies - it could get tired pretty quickly if it's just that 17 minutes on repeat.

Eeeh, I love EYE and I really want to see Streum-on do well but I'm not impressed. It looks just like EYE with retouched graphics and in more of a squad FPS format. Also has far less gore than I'd like to see on a 40k game.

Not that it matters, because Windows exclusive + Dx11 means I can't even play it on my virtual machine, too bad.

I think the amount of lines itself was fine, what annoyed me most is how clunky their english(still) is, with too much word repetition and how stoic they sound while speaking them(maybe that's intentional, not really well-versed in 40k lore).

That is more or less standard Space Marine talk. Overly formal and stoic to a fault.

The environment detail is a true delight for me as a 40k fan.

The actual gameplay though...I expected it to be more swarmy, with fewer baddies with ranged weapons. I still generally like what I'm seeing though.

I think my only problem with it from a gameplay perspective is that the genestealers just aren't scary enough at close range. They seemed more like a minor nuisance than a terrifying threat unless they got a flanking attack on you. I'm used to the classic SH where the last thing you want a genestealer to do is get up close to anyone without Lightning Claws or a Thunder Hammer.

People in the comments asked why the terminator armor is so weak ("made of butter" someone said?) and I had to laugh.  'Course, playing that freeware fanmade Space Hulk game was my first serious exposure to 40K.  Between that and the very first Space Hulk videogame, that weird FPS, I was more amused that the terminators don't die in one hit :P

Ha, kinda ninja'd!
And yeah, the miniboss thing was a little silly, since it kept running up to the player (or random space) stopping, then launching a slow melee attack at the air.

I'm hoping that what we've seen is only a part of it and it'll get more 'swarmy' in other parts, with more powerful/scary genestealers.

Whilst lots of ranged enemies seem a bit odd, I imagine this was a balance thing more than anything else - I can imagine without that it'd be difficult to provide a varied threat for the player.

I'm optimistic though, Co-op games are rare - especially ones that demand working as a team rather than it just being an afterthought.

I wonder if the game has difficulty modes. If it has a 'classic' difficulty where normal terminators get one-shot then I'm ok with it.

Beta's out for preorders and includes co-op.  Anybody pulled the trigger yet?

Probably.  I'd rather the game stand on its own merits than be shackled to its inspiration too much.  One-shots work in board games where it's annoying to track HP but it tends to be annoying in games like this.  Not to mention even space hulk tended to get repetitive with that style.  There was really one strategy for every map I've played:  Identify the "high ground" (for example, the intersection with a red center to the south of the objective on suicide mission on the map and balls-out sprint for it.  Whoever reaches that point first wins and from that point on only bad dice can change the outcome.

Also to me at least the shooting ranged enemies looked pretty cool for some reason in the trailer.

The game is very buggy and unoptimized. Dont know can they fix this in two weeks before the release. Visually the game looks great. Environments are full of details. Levels are also somewhat big.

The melee combat is horrible, very short range in your face with limited moves, and you will often not know can you hit a mob or not. And at the same time you will see shit when they swarm you. Range combat is somewhat batter, but very simple and shallow as you will use the same weapon depending from the class, and there is nothing more than non stop holding your trigger button, and reloading (you have unlimited amo). The mob AI is not very good, as they will get stuck, and block all the mobs going behind them.  Progression is also nothing special, you unlock new weapons during match as you get exp, and that resets every match. No global progression. Classes and weapons feel and play very similar, and feel samey. Librarian is probably the most interesting as he has more active skills than just hold and shoot.

Overall, the game gets stale very fast, as there are limited option and diversity with classes and enemy mobs. Not worth the current price I think, and best wait for a bigger sale.
