Both things correct, and yeah, it's warcry. Bravers unfortunately have no aggro drawing skill I don't think, and gunners have showtime which is sort've a half assed warcry, so they can sorta pull the tank role in a pinch. Important note for tanking, your job is to distract them, not take huge hits to the face repeatedly unlike in other games. A tank hunter with all the defensive skills can certainly pull that off, don't get me wrong, but there's not really a benefit in it for anyone.

Revised tank build?

I'm trying to maintain good damage while really tanking it up. Are those status effects things worth investing into? What does just counter do exactly?

Good damage while tanking it up will require two things. One: Reduce that guard stance to 3 points. That is the only defensive skill, besides maxed warcry you will take. As I said above, as a tank, your primary concern is distracting enemies, not taking hits to the face. When I say tank hunter, I do mean hunters that take a ton of defensive skills, but it's important to note that doing that will make your offense pitiful.

So! take a look at this.

Key points: max warcry. Get most of fury stance. Warcry for tank, fury stance for actual damage. You're missing out on a fair chunk of damage by not taking one of the fury stance skills at all, because fury stance is just that potent, but your offense is still very respectable. For fighter: I left some points out because as a tank you should basically have warcry on at all times, so brave stance is really the only stance you'll realistically use. You have about 28 points left, you can basically put them into anything you want. I chased down halfline slayer and PP slayer because they both provide big boosts when you're low on HP/PP. I also removed the chase skills, they are terrible. From here you can add more points to S-atk/S-def skills in the fighter tree, or get more wise stance. The first is probably your best option, as enemies will constantly be facing you when you use warcry.

But yeah, a damage hunter of any variety without fury stance is not a damage hunter at all. If you don't take fury stance as a hunter your damage will suffer terribly, to the point that you will actively slow fights down.

Hmm. The benchmark program and people saying this runs fine on older computers has given me enough reason to bother downloading this. I did really like blue burst.

A few questions popped into my head as I glanced over the character planner. What is a Just Attack, why does the all resist on Massive Hunter seem to go DOWN as you put points into it, and are deathblows common enough to players to potentially make Iron Will worthwhile, and if so, is 300 S-atk and invincibility for 5 seconds good enough for never give up.

Just attacks are basically well timed attacks. You know how mashing didn't work in previous games, it'd usually cut your combo short? Well you can mash now, but just attacks increase the damage. A just attack is a well timed hit. Hunters boost Just attacks a lot.

Resist is a percentage, so it's going from 90% global elemental resist to 75%. Gaining 15% reduction. deathblows are incredibly common, it's a lot like monster hunter, if you get hit more then 2-3 times without healing you're probably down for the count.

300 S-atk is monstrous, but that invincibility is what'll get you killed against bosses unless you keep impeccable track of it., I take that back, it's actually prime time for a trimate. So yeah, never give up is amazing. For comparison I think 2k-2.5k S-atk is considered end game level. So it's a pretty huge boost. I'm at level 34 with a level 32 subclass and 300 S-atk is just under half of my total S-atk.

Using the invincibility to pop a trimate is exactly why I maxxed out Never Give Up in my linked build. Heal up, get back to attacking with whatever invincibility remains.

Semi regular reminder to do team quests. If it sounds like I'm nagging it's because I am.

In all seriousness for any new folk that don't know what I'm talking about, go back to the class counter and there's a team NPC there, you can get quests from her, completing them gives the team 200-300 team points which are used to make our buff tree significantly more amazing. They also reset every day, and there's a cap of how many TP you can earn per week. They change every week.

You can also go into the team room to see/use the buff tree (try not to use it TOO much, we need to maintain it with TP, using it when rare hunting a particular item/for EQs shouldn't break the bank too hard) and there's also a team NPC in there.

Now you know! Many thanks to people that do the team quests, which may be most of you, for all I know. I can't check these things.

I saw those team quest things, but assumed that you needed to be in a party to do them :/

Alright. The game runs and looks Englishish, so whoever actually wants/needs a blue badge from referrals, you have 25 minutes before this video finishes and I go pick a random number from the thread and go through registering and character creation.

Random it is. And the lucky winner is..... girlinhat because her's is the first I saw going backwards in the thread.

Discovering the awesomeness that is autowords.
I can make my character say tsundere-ish things without having to type them in myself.

Upon leveling up: "I-It's not like I want you to praise me or anything!"
On E-trail failure: "... Baka."

Best. Thing. Ever.

You can solo em, a team is just the name of the guild analogue.

I'm trying to figure out how to disable auto-words, so that That One Guy doesn't consume half the screen with his video of his face saying "I found a shiny thing."

If you go to Options > Basic Settings > Communication Settings, you can turn off all chat balloons, and also keep Autowords from popping up in the chat box. There's no option to specifically disable Autowords, though, so that's the best you're going to get.

Also, is there any way to get around the trading restriction? Getting premium just to be able to trade is kind of... bleh.

Fraid not. I personally intend to eventually max all classes, so all those rares will be useful in some regard, but no way to move them around barring shop hijinx.

Some notes on Dark Falz Loser.

The Apos Dorios and Dark Falz Luther are both weak to Wind and Light based attacks.
*Dorios is vulnerable to Panic, which is a Light based effect that causes enemies to behave erratically and sometimes attack each other.  When applied to Dorios, it causes him to be paralyzed and sort of hover in place off-canter.
I would suggest using RaGrantz, dropped from rare version of Quartz Dragon, the Crys Draal, as it has a good power and the infliction isn't the most important thing, the damage can count for more.

*Luther is vulnerable to Mirage, which is a Wind based effect.  When Mirage is inflicted to his center 'clock' chestpiece, it will temporarily open up and reveal a weapon point.
I would suggest using Zan, the regular old wind toss, as the rate of inflicting Mirage is also cut by the number of attacks in the magic.  A one-hit is more likely to inflict, while something that generates multiple attacks is less likely.

In either boss type, having or Il Grantz, Ra Grantz would prove useful, especially as both of these can be customized for more damage, while the old standard Na Megid is also useful for powering damage, it sort of falls off about halfway through the Luther fight, as he starts moving around much faster and there's no time to charge up before he teleports or throws waves of damage, and the shorter casting time of Il Grantz lets you get off more reliable shots.

For those minmaxing their weapons, having something for Panic + Light Damage, another for Mirage + Wind Damage, and a third for Pure Light Damage, you could change out weapons to handle moods.  Panic/Mirage to inflict, then Light to take advantage of the moment of weakness.
