So, uh, I did a little research, and apparently switching from Braver to anything other than Hunter or Ranger is bad.

Is it really? Or is that just the "pro" players saying that it's bad because the resulting stats aren't crazy high or something? Would I be screwing myself over if I chose Techer or Force as a secondary class?

Okay, here's the thing. PSO2 has the min maxinest community since ever. There's a very VERY  strong bias towards min maxed DPS builds.

They are gonna say a lot of stuff about optimal builds and what arts you should use and such, and you should totally keep this stuff in mind, don't get me wrong! Because they're relatively right a lot of the time. I just believe they oversell it, so as such do what you enjoy. Switching from Braver to Force has absolutely no downsides, you can switch back to braver and keep your level at any time, and stats are reverted. A subclass force braver has some notable advantages in that they can heal, cure status effects, and generally be more self sufficient and overall helpful to other members of the party. A shifta's a shifta. The Min Maxy version is hunter, which has just attack bonuses that synergize very well with braver. But if you wanna cast, go nuts.

also, the person that was asking about EQ scheduling, yes they do operate off a fixed schedule. I believe you can find it at Bumped.org.

Mind if I run another skill build by? I'm still undecided.

I wouldn't worry to much about it, Fun>Efficiency. So long as your setup isn't so awful it restricts your enjoyment you're good I should think.

Looks much better! Just a few minor points, if you ever intend to use hunter weapons for any reason, you will want the relevant gears. If not I see no downsides, presuming you realize you are missing out on the just reversal health recovery.

A perfectly servicable build, no glaring flaws, it has my approval! If anyone else wants to run builds by me/anyone else that wants to take a look, please feel free.

Side note. More rain! My internet is going to be terrible as a result. It seems rather rainy around here lately (which is good), so if I just don't show up for a few days, that's why.

I believe I've got everyone invited. I'll try to get on sooner or later and give girlinhat manager privileges, as she was a guild leader in a previous MMO thread I made and I had no qualms with her leadership. That'll likely be the only other manager unless she drops off the face of the earth

In apology for my abscence, have a combo video. Has combos for quite a few classes. Enjoy! Maybe work on learning them. What good's an action game without flare, anyway.

Seriyu, you may want to add these to the 'useful links'
http://bumped.org/psublog/category/pso2jp-updates/
http://www.timeanddate.com/
The one is useful, as well as having an 'upcoming event' listed on the right-hand column, that particular page of the blog has links to a ton of guides.  The second is useful because you can just toss the time in and get your local time rather easily.

In the Driving Rain 2 is going to start in about an hour, which is a monster-slaying fest in the forest, of running around with a zerg-rush of multi-party tearing into all enemies and several bosses.

Also, whenever I get a skill reset, this will likely be what I aim for.

The idea here is to max NaMegrid, which is a long-windup dark magic that starts drawing purple circles around a target, and at level one hits for like 55x your T-ATK value.  Max level with max customization can hit for like 74x your T-ATK value.  At that magnitude of attack value, elemental defenses become basically worthless, as +20% to any other attack type isn't going to come close to that level of damage, and the elemental specializations that add 1% damage each rank start becoming very useful.

If I'm reading the numbers right, then with that skill tree and a max customized Na Megid at level 70, I should get something like (6478 [base value] + 1200 [customized] + 40 [dark mastery 1 and 2] + 20 [tech charge advance 1 and 2])/100 = 77.38 multiplier against 783 T-Atk = 60,588 dark damage dealt - that's without a rod equipped.  My perfectly ideal rod would be 1162 T-ATK(the 12star rod that drops from Dark Falz Elder and has -PP consumption) + 40 from Technique V +30 from Elder Soul, and that would give something like 159,789 damage.  I think I'm doing some math wrong, because that sounds like way too much damage.

I pretty much prefer this clock.

While not auto-updating, it can be updated with a single refresh, and shows all the time zones in an easy-to-chew format. Comes in 12hr (AM/PM) and 24hr versions.

Here's a possible build I put together pretty quickly.

Hmm I'm not so sure tank oriented characters are desirable in this game. I hope I'm wrong though since I like playing tank.
Here's how I'd build it
But then I haven't the faintest how status effects generally work so yeah.  :-X

I meant to ask, stat boosts and the like from weapons, are they only active when wielding the weapon, or do you benefit from every weapon equiped?

To anyone who's stuck on matterboard 2 like me, you need to follow the ark road tutorial before you can proceed. I wasted so much time farming diggs in that freaking cave.  :'(

Did the game or the english patch get some sort of update recently? When I hit "check for updates" on the tweaker I got a crapton of files to download, but I could still run the game just fine for some reason even without updating... only things that were in English before suddenly turned into moonspeak.

I'm really confused right now.

Updating the main game removes some of the translation. You need to re patch the translation every time I think.

so that's why my second matter board took so long to get started.

I will add them asap.

Builds! I am listing them free of quotes for space reasons.

Sirus/Jelle: Most tank builds will max warcry. Never leave warcry out of a tank build. You're supposed to draw aggro, not just be really durable, and warcry does that for you. Similarly most people don't bother with massive hunter, as it only lasts 25 seconds, and it's primarily for use in running into a big mob and kicking stuff around while ignoring flinching then any serious tank purpose. Flash guards are definitely worth it. A lot of tank builds will also not max guard stance, but I wonder how good an idea that is, so leave it in I'd say. I mean at the point you decide to take a tank build you forgoe any serious damage potential, soooo yeah, the damage reduction isn't a big deal. Never give up seems like the sort've thing that ends up killing you, but I'll chalk it up to personal preference.

So. Important tank hunter skills. Guard stance, Flash Guard and it's upgrades, Flash Tech Guard, warcry.Max all these. Remember to get gears, they're not a lot of point investment and they drastically improve your damage, I cannot stress this enough. Gears Gears Gears. I'd say the best tank subclass is probably techer for healing/buff proficiency. Fighter is basically useless, you're not meant to be doing damage.

girlinhat: Rare Mastery points beyond the first are often a bad idea. It has pretty bad point value. First point is great, rest are poor. I recently found out some forces/techers will go for braver for their subclass, for weak stance, which improves damage on weak points. Something to consider. Looks fine otherwise.
