OP sounds insane but you have to admit, this is exactly the kind of logic a dwarf would apply to the situation.

Small doses of magma to build up an immunity.

Dwarven Homeopathy?

It's a dwarf.  Their natural habitat is "trapped on the wrong side of a wall".

Flinging children halfway across the map to land in magma is good, wholesome fun, but extramarital reproduction?  Why, that's just unseemly!

Still less stupid than what Humans do.
It's burning off a fuel of some sort, which would not harm your clothes or body when put out in a reasonable time. My high school chemistry teacher did this with our first class tests, too - lit them on fire pretending to be outraged, then passed them back to us unharmed.

Dwarf fortress in 50 words: You start with seven alcoholic, manic-depressive dwarves. You build a fortress in the wilderness where EVERYTHING tries to kill you, including your own dwarves. Usually, your chief imports are immigrants, beer, and optimism. Your chief exports are misery, limestone violins, forest fires, elf tallow soap, and carved kitten bone.

You are indeed correct.  Still doesn't make it any less stupid.

No more or less dangerous than covering your hand with hair spray, then lighting it on fire for a while.  Get a lower temperature burning fuel and it's basically magician's oil.

EDIT: I can't aim my /quotes apparently.

It's not the fire part that's stupid - that's actually pretty awesome, and would belong at any great power-metal concert.  It's the woo-woo claims of health benefits that I was referring to.

Ah, I see. Probably BS, yes. As a sciences grad student, personally, I've been trained to basically just shrug at any claims of anything, until I see sufficiently large data sets one way or the other.

Could quite possibly cure some of those things! Might not at all. Things that are hard to test or simply haven't been thoroughly enough tested in every relevant way should not be assumed stupid or wrong off the cuff, IMO. Ghosts, the extent of vaccine-related injuries, ESP, any number of alternative medicines, all included.

*Shrug*

One thing that has been tested quite sufficiently, though, would be that melting all of your fat won't turn you into a super soldier badass =P
