As likely to be trying to protect the sleeping, defenseless god as anything, especially since that cage really shouldn't be able to hold him unless the crab is somehow more powerful than the Aspects. And every other word and action the crab did indicated friendliness. There's not enough reason to assume hostility, reason to suspect friendliness, and plenty of reason to assume sapience.))
