I also believe colonization is the best bet.
So Ill post my overall plan for colonization
1. Tear apart ship and build surface installations.
a. Namely a fortress/seat of government
b. A cloning facility if possible as we are low on numbers and we can easily inflate our numbers this way.
c. A industry base
d. Tennemant style housing
2. If any natives exists exterminate and enslave
a. If of poor technological standing pose as there deities
b. If they are of a modern technological level exterminate
c. If they dont exsist well
3. Terraform planet to meet our demands
a. Genetic modification could help us here

We should fix the ship but do that plan, cause if the natives are absurdly hostile..

STRANDED!
Log 5
Galaxy Time: M-7855-4-11
Planetary Hour: Early Night

Most of the crews start working on respirators, the soldiers being utilized by them as handymen. A role that these somewhat begrudgingly accept. At the end of the day, every crew-member has a respirator. Trying it out, you note that breathing with them is still somewhat of a chore, but given the alternative there is only some slight grumbling but no complaints as of now. The last crew cleared out an area near a crashed cargo door and then some – perfectly use-able for any bigger vehicle or construction plans. The action also nets 7 materials, with the possible area for the drone bay already planned for another day.

The Lab-Loonies had no trouble in completing a basic night vision device. The Night Vision Googles have a simple image intensifier, and will allow the wearer more or less clear sight even in environments completely devoid of light. They also improved a military scouting display helmet – originally built for the unlikely case of hostile engagements in space. These Scouter Helmets are sweet digs, especially thought for – but not limited to – the military guys. It has an easy to use interface function, comes equipped with thermographic sight, electronic aiming aid, communications and camera-feeds and other fancy knick-knacks. Civilian production of them would normally be a heavy punishable offence, but with administration at least 30 years of travel away, you are quite sure that no-one will care in the near future. There are still some bugs that need to be ironed out, but it would be an easy days work. When they present the later model to Norczo, he visibly brightens up, and soon enough notes that they would most probably use these even in broad daylight.

New Blueprints:
Night Vision Googles: ( Night Vision )  2 Materials, 3 Energy
Preview - Scouter Helmets: ( Night Vision, +0.50 MM for Soldier-Squads, +0.25 MM for Others )  5 Materials, 7 Energy

Todays Briefing:

There are just a few bugs and functions that need to be ironed out. The Scouter-Helmets could be produced the day after.
Googles that do something: 0/1 Academic Analysis

If we decide to go with that plan about drones, clearing a bay for them will be an easy task. One or two teams with a construction-mech should suffice.
Droning on: Needs 2 Construction-Mechs 0/2 Technical Task

There are plans to build a heavy constructions bay, with the are already cleaned out the day before. It would need some just a few cranes and stuff to assemble the parts, with one of the synthesizers nearby capable of anything but ship-scale parts.
Constructing the facilities: Needs 1 Construction-Mech 0/2 Technical Task

While they only remark on the matter slightly, it is obvious that the guys still very much plan on spending countless hours in the labs to research this planets lifeforms.
Science, for Science' Sake: 0/3 Academic Analysis

Since they are worked hard enough, there is no need to hurry this matter along. Or so Quoslan jokes, at least..
Further Mining: Needs Rifle-Set - 0/1 Military Matter, 0/1 Technical Task

Footnotes
There is some excitement at todays briefing, because an anonymous sender has proposed quite the daring plan. It is not the first time that someone speaks of just colonizing the planet, and true enough – a carbon world is a good deal better than the rock you would most likely have settled upon. The document in question makes some very valid points, but one of them sticks out like a sore thumb. It includes the mention of cloning facilities, somewhat of a taboo for Lyrcnos society. No wonder, seeing as the last Inter-Morzoquian war was fought against the clones that were about to be disposed after ending the Inter-Morzoquian war from a few years before. At this point, no-one is willing to earnestly consider this part of the proposal, but some of the points do stick, with breeding vats gaining some minor notices of support.

Some also voiced the possibility of carbon-forming the planet to better suit our needs, but all realize that this would be a generation-spanning project. Morzoqu-forming also recieves a honorary mention, but while there have been some small-scale successes on other carbon worlds, you lack the bio-diversity to attempt this endeavour. On that note, you have a few potted plants that could bear fruits in a morzoquian atmosphere greenhouse, but that is about all you have from the home world.

Run-Down of this Turn:
Finished 2 Tasks, 1 Ongoing Task
Gained 7 Materials, 9 Respirator Sets, Night Vision Google Blueprints, Empty Constructions Bay
Used 9 Materials, 29 Energy for tools and production, 1 Materials 5 Energy for Life Support

Resources
110 Materials 408 Energy
Spoiler: Resource-Managment (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Units (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Military Blueprints (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Vehicle Blueprints (click to show/hide)

Weapon Systems will come in the next turn, but for now this is enough number-crunching for me. I try to keep it balanced, but we will see.

Else, I like were some of your thoughts are going, dear players...  Feel free to keep at it! ;3

Create a new Rifle-Set. Assign one construction mechs to Constructing the facilities. One team of loonies will work on Goggles that do something. The military squad will move to 1-1 for scouting the area.

My proposed turn:
Produce Night-Vision equipment
The soldiers and Construction Crew 6 will work on producing Night Vision Goggles
Vehicle Bay
Construction Crew 1 will work on this.
Drone Preparations
Construction Crews 2 through 5 will work on clearing the bay, constructing a Manual Drone Station and starting work on a Scouting Drone. If it is not possible to do either of the last 2 tasks this turn, the surplus crews can work on getting the Scouter Helmet plans to a reasonable state.
Science!
The two Lab Loonies will work on studying the samples that we have already acquired.

STRANDED!
Log 6
Galaxy Time: M-7855-4-12
Planetary Hour: Early Night

There is a lot of hustle this day, with all the construction mechs working inside of the ship – and rather loudly so too, at times. After the metaphorical dust has settled, you have cleared an area for your future drone bay, gained 11 Materials, and finished your new vehicle bay. Meanwhile the soldiers and one of the crews have built two sets of googles – the night shall have far less secrets from now on. Another team has also finished a drone station, albeit it still needs to be set up in the unfinished bay. A mundane matter, or so they assure you.

In the labs, the loonies and two crews have split the workload, achieving quite satisfying results. For one, the scouter helmets have been finished. On the other hand, Professor Lerzo is extremely pleased with the new discoveries, with most of the loonies sharing in his excitement. To put it short – the local lifeforms are quite unique, and further studies would be well appreciated by your small academic circle. On the useful side, since you understand the local plant-matter better, you would gain more from synthesizing it.

New Blueprints:
Scouter Helmets: ( Night Vision, +0.50 MM for Soldier-Squads, +0.25 MM for Others )  5 Materials, 7 Energy

New Trait:
Optimized Carbon Synthefinement – You gain +1 resources per dice from organic sources

Todays Briefing:

The drone bay is about ready to be used. It only needs some wires, circuits, hangar doors to the outside and similar. Nothing that two teams can't handle on their own.
Finishing Touches: 0/2 Technical Task

With the googles, Norczo is ready to go scouting, preferably to 1-1. He has no qualms if some loonies want to tag along.
Scouting Ahead: Needs Rifle-Set, 0/1 Military Matter optional 0/1 Academic Analysis

Most people agree that some form of transport should come in handy at some point. A point which shouldn't catch us unprepared.
Easy Riders: 0/? Technical Task

The squad would be delighted to get their new toy – rather sooner than later. They are actually excited to get their hands on them.
What's the scouter saying?: 0/? Technical Task

Spoiler: Mentioned Missions (click to show/hide)

Run-Down of this Turn:
Finished 6 Tasks, No Ongoing Task
Gained 11 Materials, 2 Night Vision Googles, Construction Bay, Empty Drone Bay, Manual Drone Station, Trait - Optimized Carbon Synthefinement
Used 25 Materials, 24 Energy for tools and production, 1 Materials 5 Energy for Life Support

Resources
95 Materials 379 Energy
Spoiler: Resource-Managment (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Units (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Military Blueprints (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Vehicle Blueprints (click to show/hide)

So~ finally an update again. I decided to make the story a bit less thick, seeing as it would take too much out of me otherwise.
Weapon systems are still not in, but I'll get to it. Soonish. ;3
Like, more soonish than it took for this update to come. No, really. ;o

Edit: I actually forgot to include the drone station. I had it on my list, and deducted the cost for it, but it somehow slipped my mind while writing the turn. Needless to say, it is included now.

Finish construction of the drone bay. Norczo should go out and explore 1-1, with the soldier squad and one group of lab loonies. We should also see about getting an armoured jeep worked on, or at least a hover-jeep.

Anyway this looks like a thread I could get involved with. It all looks very nice.

I support this, but I'd have the other group of lab loonies work on adapting another type of weapon (probably pistols) and that we build an armoured jeep. When it mentions secondary weapons, I assume this is one of the weapons our people can carry?

Well, the weapon systems mentioned on the tanks are made up of the main, and secondary weapons.
The Main Weapon is - unsurprisingly - just that. Firing the big shots, maybe even rockets and special shells.
Secondary Weapons are mounted weapons, mostly machineguns, small autocannons and launchers.

To make it easier on all of us, the same secondary weapons will fit on the tanks, drones and armoured jeep. You will even be able to switch them around - albeit doing so obviously will consume a token of resources, but mainly time.

I should get to the weapon systems after I finish the next turn of ghoulish. So expect the next update for this sometimes this weekend.

Would we be able to make camera traps? If we send some people to check for signs of animals that we haven't seen, then a camera trap would allow us to identify potential problems (be they equivalents of silicon-raccoons or silicon-lions) before they get bold enough to come in close. The science guys would love it as well.
