It's a product of how weird and political this eurovision was, I remember our tabloids saying stuff like it was a clear move against russia by saying europe is accurately represented by a bearded drag queen with a figure of a model telling everyone we are unstoppable.

What a strange year.

I really think you are reading too much into this. It's not like people vote on acts because they think they "represent Europe", or like the winner is supposed to in any way it shape. Remember Lordi, for Christ's sake.

Lordi is not supposed to represent Europe? ;_;

That is exactly how people vote!

The judges missed the point by only going for who can out ballad who. Eurovision isn't just a talent show, it's where fun comes alive :D

Also the moustache song is still stuck in my head. The more I hear it the better it gets. France knew not to take it too seriously, they deserved many more votes.

Imagine if UK had sent Dead Cat Bounce's Every time you shave a moustache dies, and Poland The Figo Fagot Brothers' A gdybym zgolił wąs ('And if I shaved my moustache' - the lyrics include such gems as "one night, one sex - afterwards only AIDS", "at worst you'll get a d&c" and "experience has taught: safest is in the mouth").

One last thing just to hammer in that point, the UK was ranked fairly high by the judges, yet did not win because europe was not in the mood for victory anthems.  Europe holisticly is undergoing some big changes, so it makes sense that amongst the top countries by vote, there were boobs, sombre reflections about the journey;  the calm and the storm and the ultimate winner whose song was about change and rebirth. I look back on it now, some things such as the china jokes have lost their charm whereas france has only gained it, but I am hopeful that next year the people can bring everyone together with our nations of song, for one night disregarding trivial quarrelling to argue about something that matters: SINGING!
GG Bearded lady,  the battle was well fought.

It's like the Olympics, if you host it your country is dead.

BUT AT THE SAME TIME, GIT HYPE FOR SINGING

The smart thing would be to vote for Australia so whatever country will be forced to host it next year only will have to pay part of the costs.

The clever Polan knows by now that no level of crazy can win him the coveted prize, so instead he goes with the least offensive, least controversial, least anything song, but performed by a disabled singer.
Oh, Polan. Conchita taught you well.

And in an interesting turn of events, the vote results announcer in Polan is one of the models from Polan's last year's show.

I've liked several songs this year. The notable exception to this is Finland's song.

Edit: What are people's guessing on the winner?
