I think an update is doubtful, and even if it happens, it'll take a while...  forsaken hasn't logged in for a week, and hasn't posted for 5 weeks. 

I probably don't have the time to give 1.8 an honest go (school-school-school), though I am interested to do so.  The only obvious 1.8 server here in OG so far is one that I'm reluctant to join, as I question the motivations of its announcer.

Do we want to figure out running our own 1.8 instance?  Is there anyone with adequate hardware to donate to the cause?  I have a crappy old P4 that's not doing anything right now, but I also don't think my connection could handle any serious server traffic.

Not exclusively but, inclusively.

Short answer; to play minecraft with a small group of smart, funny and friendly people.

Founding this new Minecraft community is an endeavor that is consuming the vast majority of my free time but, the one I am currently most passionate about. The only thing I have been talking about anywhere lately has been Minecraft. Dwarf Fortress is hands down one of my favorite games and the emergent stories created by it's community are one of the greatest inspirations for me to start this server.

He had made his own thread, and yes.  For those that don't want to click through, vanilla 1.8 wasn't drawing enough traffic, and FTB Monster was more than his box could handle.

I had a modpack server at one point, although it probably was a bit annoying to get to since it was a modified version of monster. McFry's sounds easier to get onto, maybe I should set mine back up at somepoint with an easier to use set.
