I tried to make Thaumium ingots but I am not sure why the crucible won't let me.. Clearly I am doing SOMETHING wrong..
I put 3 Netherwarts into it and then an iron ingot.. So.. what's next? Right click with a wand? I have a quartz one with golden.. things.. Is it the wrong kind of wand?

I may be wrong, but don't you need 4 Praecantio?

4? Hmm.. I thought it was 3 from looking in the thaumanomicon..

You were right, just tested it.
My problem now is to make the Pickaxe of the core.
I cannot seem to get the order of the items right.. why must the picture in the book look so.. confusing?

edit: Nevermind, the Thaumic pickaxe had to be repaired.

So I was on the Magecraft server tonight, and I seem to have run into a bit of a problem.

No picture of this, but behind the door was a narrow corridor, which lead to a 1x1 hole in the ground. After building some ladders to safely climb up it and setting my spawn at the top, I noticed that something was pushing me up. Removing the ladders, I found myself floating above the hole. Recalling my previous readings of the Thaumonomicon, this looked to me to be the work of an arcane levitator, and, just as it had said in the book, I was able to descend by holding down shift.

The path lead down a long corridor. At the end was another door. I went inside and found a large empty room.

I tried beating on the door, but it was no use; it was obviously warded. The walls, likewise, were also warded; I had probably seen the flashes of light when I struck them earlier, but had paid such a thing no mind. Desperate for escape, I tried to use the /kill command, but it said I don't have that permission. Apparently I am not allowed to self-terminate.

So it seems I am stuck in my underground prison until the creator makes an exit or I can get someone to hold the door open for me.

Ah, I also got stuck in that room before. I got help though.
The best solution is to wait till someone else logs onto the server.

Or someone could use a Circle Talisman to put down a [img=https://sites.google.com/site/witcherymod/rite-of-transposition]http://Rite of Transposition[/img] in the room, placing a Bound Waystone and a Charged Attuned Stone in a chest and then using a waystone and charged stone of their own to activate the ritual and escape.

All necessary materials should be in my base or in the distillery next to my witchery alter (which is next to my new animal pen). I have a copy of Witchcraft: Circle Magic in the bookshelf next to my front door which can be used to find out how exactly each ritual is done (make sure the circles are wide enough, the alter has enough power, then drop the required items on top of the center glyph and right-click it).

Or someone could place a pressure plate on the other side of the door.

I'm pretty sure it needs a special pressure plate like you see in front of the door in the first image. I think it's very likely such a pressure plate needs to be either made or placed by the person who put down the door to even work properly. This is high-level security magic, so I don't think it's going to be defeated by someone just putting down a piece of wood.

That said, if someone's doing the circle magic thing, they might as well try it for laughs.

Edit: Also, I find it odd that I'm much less mad about possibly being trapped in a prison forever than I was when I died and lost a stack and a half of Silverwood logs.

Ah, thanks, Meta. That's actually a lot less complicated and a better solution long-term than my teleport circle plan.

I'm just a bit disappointed that we can't repurpose this structure. It has a nice atmosphere to it and some nifty features, but with no ability to expand and no way to stop the door closing behind you it has limited potential for reuse. (Though the hallway with the Paving Stones of the Traveler is rather long and reasonably wide...)

I think I'm mostly interested by the potential of warding, since I believe it can stop taint from spreading across it. In fact, this whole thing is making me wonder about how taint spread works; could it reach to a bridge floating above tainted lands? Because I think there are places where we might not be able to get rid of the taint since it's spread so much, but we could at least create safe passageway through it. If it spreads through the air, we may need to make the bridge warded. Or maybe we could put a layer of lava between it and the taint!

And at some point it would be nice if we could pool our resources together to make one big castle filled with things like arcane levitators and such.

So have other people been able to get onto the Magecraft server? I can't seem to connect, and I haven't been on since I was kicked by an internet outage in my area that happened sometime last week I think. I found I'm able to connect to the vanilla server, but Magecraft is a no-go for me, it seems. I hope no trouble has been caused by the stuff that was boiling in my crucible before I was disconnected.

Also, playing around with Magecraft in singleplayer creative, I've discovered that we are by no means done with Thaumcraft discoveries. I'm not sure how we would research it (I didn't look too closely into it to try to avoid spoilers), but there's a whole tree of epic items left to be discovered. I think we need to start collecting Knowledge Fragments, or maybe we need to kill a Wither Boss.
