Is there any way we could include some sort of death chest mod in Magecraft? Because I just lost a stack and then some of silverwood logs, plus two silverwood saplings because I fell too far, and I had to travel at least a thousand meters from home to even find a silver wood tree, so there was no way I could conceivably retrieve my gear before it despawned.

The item depsawn timer only applies to items in loaded chunks. When you respawned that far away, the chunks containing the items would have unloaded. The despawn timer would remain paused until a player came close enough for the chunk to load.

I've recovered items from the ground even real life days after dropping them.

Also, remember you can carry a bed with you on extended gather trips to set your spawn point. If you're far from home and collecting valuable resources, it can save a lot of misery to simply place a chest and a bed somewhere, sleep/leave the bed then periodically come back to put stuff in the chest while gathering. Personally I like to set up bed stations every couple hundred blocks in places I frequent, but even a temporary base that you dismantle when you leave can prevent losses.

Yeah, after a night's sleep, I'm not quite as upset about it as I was before. I think there might be ways I can avoid pointless deaths in the future, and maybe even a way I can make sure my items get picked up (I'll have to make and do tests with a travelling trunk to see if it will stick around my death point after I die or immediately teleport to where I spawn). And I won't try to pick up any more silverwood until I have a Witchery teleport down nearby to take me back to base.

In the mean time, could I possibly borrow, or, let's be honest, have, 4 silverwood logs from somebody? I want to make an automatic crucible (or whatever it's called), which some make constructing things a whole lot easier. It might even be a good idea to set it up at Azumet/mocman's base, since he has a lot of other Thaumcraft stuff set up there already (and maybe we could put in an Infernal Furnace somewhere, since I was getting ready to set one up in my base (had everything but the lava), but I feel like it would be too out of the way for other people to use regularly).

Oh, and Forsaken, where is your base, again? I never put down a waypoint for it, and for some reason I can never seem to find it anymore.

I haven't seen any chatter on killing the dragon. When is that going to happen?

I had to move. I was in a big redwood tree but since we had to remove natura, which added those trees, I moved. Haven't really gotten set up again yet, as I've had almost no time this week to play.

The dragon killing is supposed to go down at 6-8 pm PST, which I found is 8-10 pm for me in Central. Looking at your profile, you're apparently in DC, so that should be 9-11 pm for you.

I can't wait for 1.8. Not only will I be able to craft mossy cobble en masse, but sea lanterns would be the perfect lightsource for my design.

Also, I don't think the server could take it, but this is beautiful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BpeYiGowqWk (skip to 3:38)

I'm not sure I'll be online for the dragon fight. 6-8 PM PST means 3-5 AM GMT+1. >_>

I just delivered 16 silverwood logs and a tome of knowledge sharing to your place. I took the logs from the stack of silverwood logs stored by someone (mocman?) in my overworld base, but I can easily replace them as I know the location of two silverwood trees.

I just killed the lich in the Twilight Forest, but it did cost me my whole inventory, which disappeared, minus the baubles, when I died fighting. Meh, I did have to finish the lich with a zerg rush. :P

Ah, cheers dude.

So do baubles just not disappear somehow? Because when I lost my inventory to the fall, I noticed that the two baubles I had equipped were still around when I got back.

Yeah, I'm wondering if the baubles inventory is overwriting the normal inventory when you died and all your stuff fall around. Maybe we should avoid using baubles for the time being.

Edit:
Yep, there's a bug:
1.0.0.14
- prevent loss of non-baubles items on death
And we're using just the previous version, 1.0.0.13.

45 minutes until end dragon start time. I doubt we'll leaves immediately at 6:00, but depending on turnout we might not wait very long for stragglers.

Word of warning: trying to craft mushroom stew will crash your client in Magecraft. So don't do that.

The AFK cobblestone farm

So earlier I was complaining about how I'd gone from over three doublechests full of cobblestone to being down to my last two stacks. Akhier overheard this and proposed an automated pick dispenser cobblestone farm.

And so...muahahaha! *Mad Scientist cackle* I give you the afk cobblestone farm!

Located at the NPC village, and based on Xisumavoid's Magic Sheep Farm, this two-deep cobblestone farm features 9 doublechests worth of storage and the ability to burn through 19 picks completely while afk, with no reequipping. Assuming cobblestone picks, that's roughly 2500 cobblestone (39 stacks) over 43 minutes worth of afk mining. If you don't mind using a stack of iron for picks, that becomes 4769 cobblestone (74 stacks) all mined completely afk.

To use:

Step 1: Enter the mining chamber and fill the dispener and both hoppers with picks of your choice.

Step 2: Fill every space in your inventory except one with stuff. Doesn't matter what. Dirt, sticks...cobble, whatever. Once activated, the dispenser will continually throw picks at you. If you have empty inventory spaces, those picks will simply go to those spaces. You don't want that. Instead you want the thrown picks to always go to the same spot on your inventory bar, and if that spot already has a pick, the thrown pick will simply land on the ground and be fed back into the system. Note that it's ok to go in with that "empty" spot pre-filled with a pick. That won't break the farm, and it will give you an extra pick with of afking.

Step 3: Pull the lever and enter the chamber. Be sure that the door is closed behind you, or else the picks might be thrown out of range of the hoppers. When the farm is engaged, the dispenser will fire picks and make an audible noise every second or two.

Step 4: Press escape, then click options, then controls. Change your attack/destroy hotkey to a a key on your keyboard.

Step 5: Select your pick, position your cursor over the cobblestone in front of you, then put a weight on your hotkey so that the cobble is continuously mined. You may now go afk. The farm is continually throwing picks at you and cycling them back through the hoppers. Once you deplete the pick on your hotbar, you'll automatically pick the next throw pick and resume mining.  Assuming you're using generic cobblestone picks, you have an estimated 43 minutes worth of mining before the farm runs out of picks.

Step 6: When finished, leave the mining chamber and flip the lever to the off position. Your cobble can be collected from the chests to the lower left of the farm.
