The ongoing adventures of Diamond Kitty on Forsaken's bay12 minecraft server
Nevermind, trapped again. I was wandering around and discovered some kind of mechanized facility made of sandstone which appears dedicated to animal products. After splashing through some water, I appear to be trapped in some kind of holding cell held closed by a piston, and surrounded by snape-sighing villagers.
I can't just dig my way out here, because then I'd be griefing whoever built this evil deathtrap. Someone please help me out
EDIT: Squeezed out somehow. Good grief, is someone farming villagers for meat?
EDIT2: Oh, found LB's post a few pages back.
Oh my goodness! Somebody stumbled into one of my villager containment cells? How did that happen? Sure, the place isn't finished, but I thought I took reasonable safety precautions. I went over the OSHA compliance manuals and everything!
Well, time to investigate. Logging on, Hugo was still online, but fortunately he'd already found a way out. He simply took out a piston, and replaced it after walking out. Checking, I did find one escaped villager with a coal for emerald trade, but all the infrastructure seemed to be working properly. Sort of anti-climatic if you ask me. A half hour mini-adventure through the dungeon would have been far more entertaining.
Anyway, if you take the main road from the npc village to
my base the Evil Pyramid of Doom, then turn left, this is what you'll see:
The holding cells are 8 blocks below that glass skylight. For now the water stream leading to the holding cells is still exposed, so if he'd fallen through...if a creeper blew up the glass, for example...he'd possibly land in a bad place. But none of the glass was broken.
So maybe he came from the other direction? Curious, I set out for the npc village. On my way, I discovered this curious message:
"Let there be a monument to all our sins"-- Q
Q? Hmm. Not sure who that is. The wool is
red, however, and none of the sheep either in the npc village or my private farm are red. Oh, I get it. It's supposed to be blood. I see. Well, I was considering building a
Japanese greeter cat statue to welcome visitors to my
happy fun palace Evil Pyramid of Doom. Maybe that's a good place to put it.
Moving on, I headed to the npc village. Oh, right. The tunnel:
Given that there's an extremely welcoming three wide, pumpkin-lit half-slabbed underground sandstone tunnel with signs in it leading to the middle level of my base, yes...yes, I see how somebody might visit the village and decide to investigate. I certainly didn't make it hard to find. Ok. So, ~150 blocks of tunnel later:
My cow farm. And he did say:
discovered some kind of mechanized facility made of sandstone which appears dedicated to animal products
Yes, surely this is the route he took. But now, how did he get into a holding cells from here? The next thing he said was:
After splashing through some water, I appear to be trapped in some kind of holding cell
Hmm. Ok, heading to the vertical shaft and turning left into the villager processing area and turning left, I see this:
Of course it would be easy to get through it, but one doesn't generally accidentally stumble through two block high sand retaining walls. And even if he did, he'd still have to mine through a stone brick wall to get into the water. Maybe he got lost in the unfinished area? Backing out of the villager center and turning right, I see this:
That's a window into the villager water stream. Obviously he didn't accidentally smash through the glass and replace it, so he didn't get through there. And the downward path leads to a random cave system I broke into during excavation. So that wouldn't be it. But, if we follow the stone brick path to the left of the glass, and then climb up onto the un-mined smooth stone on the left of the tunnel, we see this:
The stone brick are on the right has a head-height ceiling so you can't jump if you stand on it. The platform on the left has a two-high space across from it, so if you try to jump over you hit your head mid-jump and land in the corridor below. But, if you stand exactly where I'm standing now, and take a running jump on the diagonal, it's possible to get up and over the wall. It took me five attempts. Once over the wall, we end up:
...in the water stream that carries villagers to their holding cells. Pictured on the right is Bob, fine trader of diamond swords for 12 emeralds. His hobbies include treading water, scratching hashmarks into his cell with his fingernails and crying himself to sleep at night.
But I digress.
Once taken up by the water stream, all the cells on that side are already full, and can't be entered without mining through a piston. But, the water does go around two corners to the other side and ~12 blocks later you'll reach the next available cell.
If at that point, instead of simply walking forward through the water you let go of your movement keys and let the water carry you across the piston shown above and onto the pressure plate on the other side, the piston will trigger, trapping you in the cell.
So, Hugo...I don't know how you got in there accidentally, but well done, and welcome to the server.
Incidentally, I'm planning on closing off that access tunnel eventually, and probably covering the whole place over with grass and pretty flowers. But if it happens to anyone else in the meantime, all you have to do to get out is mine forward through the two halfslabs. Then just put them back when you're done. Please do generally try to avoid mining inside my
base Evil Pyramid of Doom, however, as there are places where redstone and water meeting would be bad.
