I meant the DX+2 [8]-13 things.
The number in brackets (8) is the number of points spent.
The first bit (DX+2) is the level of skill that gets you (in this case, two points higher than your Dexterity score).
The last number (13) is the actual skill level you have. You need to roll below this on 3d6 to succeed on a typical skill roll.

FYI, I've put the first core rulebook on Dropbox here.

I need to figure out what I'm gonna be. How much magic is admissible--are mages fine, or just tainted psi-like characters, or nothing at all?

Thanks, now I can edit with impunity.

Also, GWG may make jokes about My characters disadvantage at anytime.

Arg! Again I am foiled by GWG!

Spoiler: Whatever (click to show/hide)

Mages of any stripe are fine, so long as you check with me. RPM and Sorcery look interesting, if you want something novel. I'm kinda leery of the default system, but I'll let you use it as long as everything checks out.

"RPM and Sorcery"? Which sourcebooks are those from, what does RPM stand for, and could you summarize how they work?

RPM is Ritual Path Magic, originally from Monster Hunters, now with it's own book, Thaumatology: Ritual Path Magic. It's a magic system designed essentially for urban fantasy, though it works well in many other places. Basically, you have your magery, your core skill, thaumatology, and nine IQ/Very Hard skills, called path skills: Path of Body, Path of Mind, Path of Matter, Path of Chance, Path of Crossroads, Path of Energy, Path of Spirit, Path of Undead, ad Path of Magic. The path skills are capped at the lower of your core skill or 12 + magery (magery does not give skill bonuses here). You use your core skills to cast spells by gathering the energy required. The interesting part is that instead of having premade spells, you have instructions for figuring out the energy cost for most any spell you can imagine. Your magery also provides some energy, in addition to capping your path skills.

Sorcery is from Pyramid 3/63: Infinite Worlds II. It's basically Magic as Powers with a few neat twists.

Not quite, though you're close. Your skills need some additional information. Here is an example of a character I half wrote out. Also remember to write down your CR for your lecherousness, and for any other mental disadvantages.

The Base Stat, the Difficulty, and your R. lvl should be your relative skill level. For example, Broadsword should be Broadsword (DX/Ave), lvl 13, R. lvl +2

And before you ask, sometimes the relative level does come up.

Oh, and while I haven't done much with it, here is my character sheet.

I did copy it exactly as the template says but that did explain what the letters where.

No, before all of them they have a letter, usually A, sometimes E, and I finally figured out that it mean the difficulty.

Angle, how would you feel about breaking up the Ritual Adept ability as suggested in the rulebook? Specifically, allowing me to drop the no-connection-needed rule.
