Killing stalkers was... okay, but they weren't particularly plentiful. Killing them only with specific weapons is much more annoying.

I hope that they also allow you to sell your default sidearm to get a better weight capacity and to get it out of your hot bar/quick select.

Being able to choose what kind of optic your gun has would be great too, having a modular gun and being stuck with only one sight is pretty silly. Might not be a big deal for many people but some weapons just don't have great ironsights, and some people would prefer collimator/parallax sights anyways. Tripwire has already done a pretty great job with the non-illuminated optics in RO:OST and RO2 so there shouldn't be any excuse, and god help me if they manage to screw up the collimator sights they do put in the game by making it just be a little sticker/permanent marker on a piece of glass like most games do.

Speaking of headshots, I hope they make the hitboxes for them better. Considering the gore system in place I don't see it being a problem, but shooting bloats in the head was a huge pain because you had to aim for their chin for a proper headshot, shooting them between the eyes or forehead wouldn't cut it.

EDIT: Whether the game is better than L4D or not is personal preference. L4D is a 'get from point A to point B' with semi-scripted events in place. You could expect to get better weapons at certain places in the levels and you knew tanks would appear in certain places, for example. KF is more of an arena where you just have to survive with a break between waves. Getting the gun you want isn't a guarantee like it is in L4D.

There are mods and/or mutators that changes KF to a "get from point A to B" survival game. It doesn't have the AI Director randomness, so things like drops are static. But it makes up for it with epic amounts of fixed spawns, to the point where you have to do fighting retreats across the map sometimes. It's very difficult.

About that 1000 enemies waves, one of my biggest complains about this game was the fact that there was a max number of spawns at any time, it made kiting extremely easy if you knew spawning points and killed in moderation.

Kind of annoying in any game, where everyone but the sharpshooter is dead and you spend the next 8 minutes watching them kite 200 enemies and kill them one at a time so they can control the spawn rate. Really hoping that's been fixed, as we'd usually quit rounds where that was happening. The last 20 or 30 enemies? Sure. The last 250 enemies? I ain't waiting around for that.

There's a specific map I remember where this tended to happen; it was a two-level jail themed thing with the upper level consisting of a square platform running around the lower inner pit, and with walls riddled with spawnpoints. That tended to go fast because the (dozens of) enemies would all line up in the chase, they'd be continually spawning, and if the last man standing couldn't kill really quickly they got swarmed. It usually ended quickly in denser maps without a coherent circle because they'd get jumped from behind and die. Hardcore servers kill you fast, especially if they're the sort that spawn half a dozen fleshpounds at the same time. xD

I do sort of dislike how the hardcore servers tended to force people into certain roles, though; the damage resistance was so high that basically only melee/sharpshooter/medic teams were viable, with a firebug or two to get the burned debuff on everything and kill trash. That M14 is just crazy, too; one of the night-time castle maps is dark enough that you can hold down an entire side alone with laser-dot sniping until you run out of ammo, provided you have good aim.

In relation to this, something else good to try are the "escape" style zmod maps for CS:S. There are some really cool ones, and they tend to focus more on your ability to move efficiently, make difficult jumps under pressure, and make good decisions on the fly. And then there are the massively buggy slapdash vehicles that you always fall through...
Definitely agreed on spawn issues, though, I've had more than a few times where the last enemies were trapped or failed to spawn.

Looking good, seems like they move a lot quicker than in KF1, and sound a lot more crazed/scary. Is the slasher going to replace the gorefast?  How will the cyst differ from the others? From the looks of it it appears to be blind, but I kinda thought that was the screamer's shtick (not that it effected gameplay as far as I remember).

That fleshpounder is pretty amazing, I loved the sound they made when they got pissed, hehehe.

Yeah the new models look about 10x slicker compared to their KF1 counterparts. Although a lot of that I'm feeling is cinematic animations rather than what you'll see in game. Time will tell. No media has announced the removal of specimens, so who knows about the Slasher. I didn't see that was particularly slashy about him.

I also had the same questions for the cyst. Maybe he's a specimen attractor, although KF zeds have never had a problem knowing exactly where you are.

Generally, I think TWI has gone up a level in their animation and modeling skills. The new UT engine is obviously a lot more refined too. KF, for how much I love it, still felt like a mod to me. A decently skinned and skillfully textured mod, but animations and enemy behavior still always looked a bit wooden, the models with just enough edges on them to not look AAA. While being leaps and bounds over the original KF mod in most ways, it struck me at first as looking a bit crude in places.

KF2 looks much more like a slick AAA production, while still keeping the design vibe of KF. We won't know if it's true until we see some gameplay. If clots really move like they do in that trailer......that's a huge leap forward from the shuffling masses of KF.

New video showing off the new designs for a number of the old zeds. Seem to show some of the new attacks that they will have such as the body-slam of the bloat and the husk's cannon now being capable of switching to act as a flame-thrower as well.

The changes to melee interest me greatly. The way he describes directional attacks remind me of RUNE, there's not heavy and light attacks, and there's a sort of parry system... parrying Fleshpounds with a knife sounds... hilarious.

I want to know if these perk choices you make are permanent or if you can swap between them.

Personally, KF ruined L4D for me. L4D's co-op seemed so awkward and forced, the gameplay felt plodding and never really built tension, and the director felt like a sad gimmick. I guess it all comes down to personal preference.

Glad to see girlfriends Stalkers weren't cut. Although its bit in the video was.....bizarre?

Siren's scream visual effect is way, way over done. Unless their new goal is to make it impossible to see through in addition to everything else.

I found that as well. It was something about the movement and aiming that was off. I attributed it to the game being a UT2004 mod originally but, yes, the movement was slow or something. It is a pity because the game looks enjoyable to play with a group.
