1.When I build rooms for all my ppl (2X2) with a bed in each one similar to this layout,

so do I have to painly give each dwarf his own room or can I just designate the whole this as a dormatory.
I have been been doing it the hard way for years of playing DF and I dunno if there was ever a short cut for this. I really hope there is.

the dorms will only spread to the walls if you have the doors put in.  That said you can designate each as a bedroom and a dwarf will claim an unclaimed room as his own when he needs to sleep, afterward it'll stay his unless you destroy it or remove him from it.

Ok thankyou very much that saves me a lot of time. I was manually doing it for about 3 years now whenever I do play and it was the worst thing, sometimes I just gave up forts because I did not want to deal with it.

It's good practice to have a dormitory as well for early on and the mass influx of migrants you get in wave 4 or 5, and have their rooms accessible via main hallways.

you only need 1 for 2 rooms

You could designate the doors as interior, then the dormitory designation would be able to leak out to include all of the room-lets... but I don't see any advantage over just making each one a bedroom with a little dorm off to the side to act as a buffer for migrants.
