My character is too weak physically to do any damage with a dagger. She has a 1-in-4 chance of doing damage with any other melee weapon she can use.

She is not a brawler, I think.

Not true, actually.
Minimum Damage
If penalties reduce the damage result to less than 1, a hit still deals 1 point of damage

On the other hand, I can tank a lot of damage. And I get +1 caster level on good spells.
