What's with the zero value items in embark?
« on: May 07, 2014, 09:56:46 am »

I just picked up Masterwork and notice at embark that I can pick various "ethereal" items with no cost at all.  In fact, I could outfit an entire army for nothing.

Is this intended or a bug?

Also, Isn't "Adamantite" was supposed to be rare?  It's value would indicate that.  However my worlds have tons of the stuff.  I'm always rich within minutes after dropping a mining shaft.

Is this intended or a bug?

Adamantine is the valuable stuff. Is it teal/aqua?

Sounds like you have duplicate raws. Check your errorlog.

Ethereal is a material from the Warlocks, other races should have no access to it. It withers away after a while. At least the metal version.

Thats intended. Dirt is a soil that can be collected like sand or clay, and can only be used for constructions, like walls or floors. You could take 500 dirt with you if you like... it just saves you the time it would take to do 500 free "gather dirt/clay/peat" jobs on the surface.

Sounds exactly like the problem I had before, as someone kindly pointed out in the technical issues/bug thread: It's apparently caused by changing game settings after having choosen your tileset. Make sure the last thing you do is to choose your intended tileset.

The dirt doesnt happen to be in sacks, bins or pots does it? Because zero value infinite sacks are still sacks

Yes, it is extremely valuable and I have tons of the stuff.  It's as common as dirt in my worlds. And yes, it is teal in color.

Hmm... So I'll try the following...

1) Delete my current install
2) Reinstall
3) make all game setting changes
4) change my tileset last.

That about sum it up?

Change tileset first. Then all other changes.

But I assume that there is at least one that is actually bugged... Simple minerals or stones...

OK, I did some research last night and tested out a couple of tilesets.

1) Some tilesets cause the problem with embark and world generation regardless ff changes to settings before or after installing it.  Phoebus being one that always causes the issue no matter what I do.

2) Some tilesets only cause the issue if you change settings before you load them.

Technical conclusion: It's all hosed up. :)

Depending on the tileset and when and how you set your game settings you could have issues with world generation and embark gear.

Solution:  I went with "Masterwork - Phoebus Wall", even though I don't like it as well as the old Phoebus, and changed my settings only after installing the tileset.  This seems to have fixed my issues.

That is odd, I used to use phoebus quite a few versions ago, I wonder what changed to make it all messed up.  I use Ironhand with the obsidian walls now, that seems to work perfectly

Iys a change in the gui. Each button looked into specific files. Now each button looks in all files. Its better in the long run, but I have to change a few entries for that.
