No, he has a spear. Let's just keep our distance and use the sonic.

Anyway, we're not going to do close combat anymore.

That was a very bad idea.

Through the haze of pain, it seems as though hours pass between the blasts of the Hurricane, the Ocarai mech shatters under the relentless force.  Sana chatters uselessly in the background, everything is agony, the slightest movement is a lightning bolt surging through your body.  Soon, you black out.
You awaken, the cockpit smells of blood and stale air.  Sana is nearly screaming, appealing for immediate aid on all channels one moment, the next imploring you to wake up.
"Captain!  Captain!  Hostile movement detected nearby!  Target signature is three times heavier than previously recorded Ocarai battle-units, and emitting five times as much EM radiation!" a brief pause, "This is Reaver 5-5 AI Sana to any Earth Forces unit within range, my commander is injured and we need immediate aid!  Ocarai battle-unit in close proximity to civilian targets need immediate reinforcement!"
Biting back a howl of pain you force yourself back to something near clarity, you look up, directly into the terrifying violet photoreceptors of the last Ocarai mech.  It towers over your shattered reaver like the avatar of a god, it's plating is a dark red-black, a tattered mantle flows back from it's shoulders, and its hands rest upon the crossguard of a massive straight sword.
"Sana, how long have I been out...?"
"You have been unconscious fo..."
A gravely voice cuts across the internal speakers, silencing Sana, "I have waited three segments for you Eidolon.  You have defeated all of my cadre, a feat worthy of legend.  Were you Ocarai, tales would be sung of your bravery and spirit." The voice pauses for several seconds, long enough for you to check the clock, four hours have passed since you started fighting the third mech.  "Why is it, human, that your forces who we so readily destroyed elsewhere have managed to stop us here?"

OOC: How much do we know about the Ocarai culture? I think we should utilize that honor bound aspect in our favour.

Also, how long till we can get Close Range Aerial support? Surely, some of those spaceships can be usefull here.

Since I'm here.

Humanity knows little about the details of Ocarai culture, mostly the following:
The Ocarai have a form of instutuionalized 'hero worship', where the most capable warriors are elevated to nearly god-like status.
The Ocarai have an Imperial central government based on a system of elitism, where the most able leaders are elevated to the status of 'Emperor' for a period of twenty human years and then replaced.
The Ocarai enslave all intelligent life they encounter as they expand, but for some reason are completely intolerant of humans.
Due to their elitist attitudes, individual slaves can ascend to better station by excellence, it is an oddity that the Ocarai allow subject races to hold positions of individual power, but do not tolerate alien societies.

Also, while I enjoy a great fight, nothing short of pure genius stupidity is likely to allow you to win here.

We don't need to win, we only need to not loose long enough for our friends in orbit to come down with superior force. They should have received our alerts.

Possible responses

Spoiler: Proverbs 16:18 (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Honest (click to show/hide)

Or we can confront him about why they preferred to fight and kill civilians, rather than take up the challenge offered by our forces, currently located in Martian Orbit.

"Well, for some reason command thought it would be a good idea to throw weaker people at an obviously superior force and held back those that were more able. No idea where the others got off to, haven't heard from them since the battle started, after command went down, I decided "Fuck it, I'm gonna do something." And I got in my mech and you know the story from there."

"I do have a question though, your race has enslaved multiple other species, right? Why are you guys going out of your way to kill unarmed human civilians? You act like honor is something that matters to you, but is killing civilians honorable, honestly enslavement doesn't seem the most honorable either, but genocide? Really? What is it about humans that made the Ocarai hate us so much that you decided genocide was the best option? I know for a fact there are a decent number of civvies who would be quite accepting of being slaves or pets, it's a rather common fetish for some reason, not sure why."

((Keeping him talking, get exposition dumps!))

All sounds good, but I dislike the tone a bit. I got the impression the captain is the type to be professional (well except when he dealt with the AI). This alien has some respect for us so let's not ruin it too quickly since we need to stall. :p

We should say something defiant about the human spirit not permitting itself to be enslaved. Then confronting him about killing the civilians seems interesting. Maybe we can learn more about why they hate hoomans so much. He sounds like he's preparing to exposit, so chances are this will work.

Why don't we pose some sort of question, and when he starts answering unleash a surprise attack? It may not be honorable, but it might just work.

I don't think we have anything capable of damaging him sufficiently for him not to kill us effortlessly afterwards.

Ebbor's right, those other guys took all of our firepower, and this one's three times bigger, and we don't have the element of surprise. Checking out our surroundings couldn't hurt though, in case there's something useful nearby.
