Biography: when the troubles hit, Majikthise was conducting a field trip along with her class of 13 students out in the country at an opencast mine - they had hardly ridden the bus back into town when the zombie swarms became readily apparent, confirming that the stream of confusing messages she and the kids had been receiving were indeed warning them of something. What followed next was immense confusion, and Majikthise has never tried to remember the events of that day - suffice it to say that by the end of it there was her and 11 students remaining, who she decided to take to safety someplace further away.
After a year of running and hiding, she and 6 others remained. They had found a library in a somewhat safe location. Though they were not aware of it at the time, it was to be their home for the next three months. Both the kids and her, surprisingly enough, took to reading quite well after the terrible times that they had experienced.
After three months had passed, only six people managed to leave, Majikthise among them. Wandering followed, without much purpose aside from survival, though the group did seek out other books and similar things, now that the habit had been formed. They had grown older, wiser, and more experienced in the world and how to survive it, and felt confident as they entered the new wilderness, all but emptied of human life, but nevertheless teeming with activity.
Two weeks later, the five remaining members of the group located an archive underneath a mansion in the woods - Majikthise felt good about this place, and the feeling was justified, as it proved safe for about two and a half months.
Three months after arrival in the mansion, there were only three of them left - Majikthise, her most trusted friend among the students she, for the benefit of the listener, will identify as Vroomfondel, and one girl she had never managed to properly reach. Spirits were low, and desperation was mounting.
One month later, there was only her and Vroomfondel, and a new library. It proved interesting, though the distractions it provided felt hollow after all they had experienced.
A full six months before the end of the plague, only she and a few books in her current lodgings, an abandoned shack in the woods not far from the campus of a university rendered unidentifiable by the systematic erasure of its name, remained, completely alone. And now? Now that chapter of her life is well and truly over.
