I,d like to see a capture the flag with a twist. The flags are actually valuable combat assets capable of being used to activate features on the map.
How about fighting to gain control of a fortress/bunker? We'd be struggling over control of strategic machine gun positions etc.

Does anyone know of a good hex map editor? I've just grabbed this one off Google, but I could probably do something nice if I had design stuff.

For a new gamemode, how about Reverse Capture the Flag? Both teams have a bomb they must deliver into the enemy base or other target before the other team.
So... like that one mode in CoD?

Haven't tried them out yet myself, but this online generator can output numbered hex grids in Scalable Vector Graphics format (which Wikipedia tells me is a format that can edited with any vector graphics editor or used as paths in GIMP) and this one allows you to use GIMP to make old-school D&D wilderness hex maps. Oh, and I suppose there's always Hexographer.

I don't know, I don't play those. I was more thinking of Payload Race from TF2, without the rails.

Turn 6

Taricus and RPgeek start fighting. Taricus [5] punch Rolepgeek to the ground. Rolepgeek, groggy with the punch only inflict [2] damages. Taricus [4] then smash his head on a rock with a boot. Taricus gain a level! He can choose between two abilities:
Corpse Mutilator:You gain an extra 6 XP when killing someone.
Fast hitter:You can get two attacks in before the enemy can react.

IcyTea finds enough gasoline for [3] molotovs cocktails.
Kadzar drinks some booze! He feels like hitting someone, but no one is there.
kj1225 pummel the defenceless a1s! [2][2][4][3] And kill him! You can choose between two abilities:
Charge: You get a +2 to the damage roll when attacking someone that isn't fighting back.
Regeneration: You gain 2 HP/turn.

Move to B1505, throw a cocktail onto B1406. TACTICAL, even though we're going to win the game this round, barring a Diabolus Ex Machina.

I'm thinking of letting you guys re-use your character for the next battle, so scoring XP now is a good idea.

The cannon needs 6AP to use. Also, I'm starting to think IcyTea hacked my computer to know when I'll update.

Who's that scan near kj?
Move to b1310 then attack kj1225 with remaining AP

They're nearly as bad as badgers. Build a couple of anti-buzzard SAM sites marksdwarf towers and your fortress will look like Baghdad in 2003 from all the aerial bolt spam. You waste a lot of ammo and everything is covered in unslightly exploded buzzard bits and broken bolts.
