Name: Reina “Yuusha-chan” Ryuki
Title (if any): Sergeant, TSAB Ground Forces (position: Center/Back)
Gender: Female
Profession: Squad sniper/ Heavy weapons specialist, TSAB Ground Forces
Race: Human
Age: Undetermined (she was canonically 32 but that's awfully old for a mere Specialist)
Appearance:
Pictured with Barrier Jacket and Betty. When not in the silly cosplay armor, usually in boring TSAB Ground Forces uniform.
Personality:First off, Reina is what you might call a friendly sniper. Indeed, she’s quite talkative, sympathetic to people, helpful, and generally all around nice. Well, that’s out of battle, anyways. When she’s in combat, she’s quite prone to just shutting up and fighting. She’s rather big on working with people, as it happens. Either way, she somewhat tends to lack initiative, more often simply following others’ orders. That said, if you don’t happen to be an authority figure (and occasionally even if you are and happen to be doing something sufficiently objectionable), she can be very stubborn indeed.
As befitting a sniper, Reina is quite patient and attentive to detail. She’s fairly good at critical thinking, but is somewhat unimaginative and tends not to apply herself that well most of the time regardless.
Backstory: Fairly simple, but it does help suggest her other traits. Born around 2020 to a traditional Japanese family in said country, she grew up in fairly unremarkable circumstances. Among other notable things, she worked as a part-time shrine maiden for a while, where she picked up her habit of bringing ofuda everywhere. Eventually, however, she and her family moved to the United States, where she eventually joined the Army some time after she became naturalized. Reina turned out to be a pretty good soldier (this being the future, female soldiers are not as much of an issue anymore), and eventually acquired both her nickname and her somewhat amusing outfit, which is a story she is definitely going to tell you later.
Stats: 100 total.
Physical Attack: 20
Physical Defense: 15 (+15)
Special Attack: 20
Special Defense: 15 (+15)
Agility/Dexterity: 30
Abilities:Ofuda Ritual- Using some of her ofuda, Reina can... well, do a bunch of magic. Mostly she uses them for buffs and barriers and sometimes healing, but she can also make them explode in an emergency. Not the strongest stuff around, but they work. (She's a D-rank, probably.)
Equipment:Yumi: Reina's Armed Device, normally worn as a bracelet on her left arm. Since it's covered up like that, it's not very important what it looks like in its standby mode. Besides the normal mundane utility TSAB Devices have, Yumi has three main functions: assisting her Barrier Jacket, turning into and/or hammerspace summoning her weapons, and assisting her ofuda rituals.
”Hai, Ojou.” is pretty much all it says. Most of her old weaponry has been integrated into Yumi, along with the AEC-7 Caliburn. It has been hardened against anti-magic, and has some sci-fi-physics integration that allow it to switch between the various physical weapons and continue to function at a low level even if magic is entirely prohibited.
Barrier Jacket: TSAB-style magically created armor. At the relatively mundane D-rank, Reina's gives +15 to Physical and Special defense.
Weaponry: Oh, this is a long one.
Youkai: Reina's good old semi-automatic standard issue pistol, adapted for the TSAB's demands. It can fire unremarkable bullets or unremarkable magic, and can also produce a sort of energy bayonet for close-quarters work.
Attack: 10 Special/Physical (with bullets), 20 Special (with blade)
Noir: A semi-automatic silenced sniper rifle that used to be very modular and able to be chambered for like, several hundred ammo types. While magic takes care of a lot of the functionality now, the principles are still the same. It's silent, has barely a muzzle flash, and can be used with all manner of bullets, magic cartridges, and some more exotic things still.
Attack: 30 Special/Physical
Betty: A 50 caliber-ish anti-material sniper rifle. Bolt-action, heavy duty, big gun, big damage. Nice and accurate and powerful, it'll blow up most things you normally want blown up. Again, it can also be used in magic-fire mode.
Attack: 50 Special/Physical
Yumiko: This surprisingly boring-looking monstrosity is a man-portable
railgun. And not a small one, either. For size comparison, look up old, WW1-era-type recoilless anti-tank rifles, but think bigger and squarer and bulkier. While it can now accept TSAB cartridges to charge the internal capacitors, the principle remains the same. While it can technically be dialed down to more reasonable levels, that tends to defeat the point: its real purpose is punching holes in tanks, bunkers, and pretty much anything you’re likely to need to punch a hole in. It’s fairly heavy and requires some time to charge up before firing, plus the hypersonic bullets make a very loud and distinctive sound. On the other hand, given its extreme range and aforementioned muzzle velocity, the targets do tend to be dead before hearing it.
Attack: This is gonna kill you. Also normally does Physical damage unless loaded with a magic-explosive sabot, which will probably kill you from the impact anyways so it's kinda pointless.
AEC-7 Caliburn: The other ridiculous weapon, this thing is a Device-like armament unto its own, giving it superior efficiency in converting magic power into actual spellcasting. It's essentially a small (and by small we mean a little bigger than Yumiko) version of TSAB Dimensional Navy ship cannons. Yeah. Like Yumiko, it needs time to charge up, but this is mostly to condense nitrogen ice to serve as coolant during the firing cycle. Being built to replace certain people of mass destruction, it can accept dozens of cartridges at once. It lacks the complex seeking capabilities of the other magic shots, but it can still be pre-targeted over an area. When fired, it makes a very loud and distinctive sound. At maximum load, it's capable of befriending several city blocks. It also manages to be somewhat more lethal than other magic-stuff. You need a special permit just to fire this.
Attack:Three modes. In low power machine-gun mode, it has 10 special attack. In high-power artillery mode, it has 50 special attack. In WMD mode, it has 200 special attack. Which is equal to one cartridge. Thus, 1 cartridge is also equal to 20 machine gun shots or 4 artillery shots. I told you this thing is awesomely impractical.
Inventory:Ofuda: Traditional Shinto paper talismans used for purification, exorcism, and wards. Reina uses them as a focus for her support magic, and they may or may not be slightly magical in and of themselves.
TSAB Standard Cartridges: These look like blank firearm cartridges, but are loaded with magical energy. Basically, they're one-shot mana batteries that deliver a lot of power very quickly. They can be used to fuel magic shots (how many depends on the weapon: 1 cartridge gives 1 shot with Betty, 2 shots with Noir and 7 shots with Youkai) or do some other stuff. They're the primary ammo of the AEC-7 Caliburn, which can accept dozens at a time.
