When creation was first created and conception was conceived, the old gods were birthed with them. They were the first creatures, not alive nor dead, for they did not live and could not die, and they held power over creation. They shaped the cosmos in shapes they found pleasing, amusing, or useful, and they dotted the black with stars and worlds. They created magnificent things, making the void a beautiful place. However, their greatest creation was sentient life. Life that could think, love, hate, create and destroy. The gods attempted to procreate, and their offspring was life. Life was short lived and they died within a blink of an eye to the gods. However, they were not destroyed. When the gods made them, they infused each and every one with a fracture of a soul, and they were rebirthed.
The sentients found the gods and praised their name. When they did this, the gods felt a surge of power, so thrilling and addictive they wanted more. They forced their creations to build altars and statues and temples. They forced them to kill, to sacrifice, to hate in their name. When they reached the peak of their addiction, the first death of the gods had been done. The god's physical form had been broken, but so had his soul, eaten by the others in bloodlust. So began the god wars. It spanned for millenia; kingdoms came and went, heroes lived and died, armies won and lost. By the end of it, only three of the old gods remained. The sentients, tired of war, imprisoned them, banishing them from creation. So the gods were lost and forgotten by all but the most devout of followers.
The new gods came, from another time and creation, and sought to rule over the ripe new universe. They were more benevolent, giving the mortals technology, reason, and power. They taught them to create great starships, travel from world to world, harness the powers all around them. Mortalkind soon found their new gods, and they spanned a huge empire, all in the glory of the new gods.

Crime: (What you did before you were trapped that led the mortals to hate you. It could be killing their gods, causing deaths, forcing them to sacrifice each other, etc. It will affect how the mortals think of you.)

There will be three old gods and three new gods. The goal is generally to eliminate or imprison all of the enemy team. You don't have to be friends with your team, and you can even ally with the other team. The old gods hold power over magic and so do their followers. The new gods and their followers don't know how to use magic.
