"Ah, everyone, I am fine, really. Dimitri, Runa, please heal the others who need it.

Turning with a grin to James and John, she waved them over.

"You two! I'd thought Aeon would have ditched you by now. Surely it isn't proper for the prince to be traveling around with a pair of ruffians like you two."

The brothers chuckled and were about to respond when Aeon appeared with a limping Kosko.

"Well I need some sort of comic relief around. Otherwise I'd have died from boredom by now."

He paused and then smiled gently at his fiancee.

"Hello, my love. It has been too long. And to meet in such dire circumstances. Well, I must do all I can for the future of my future country, must I not? Let us get you all healed up and then head towards the capital. There is much to discuss."

Elvira stayed silent, simply smiling at Aeon. To those who'd been with her the longest, this was the most relaxed you had seen her since the prince had left Veros.

"I take it you must be the prince of Licha? What brings you here, if I may ask?"

"Yes, I'm the younger prince. And I'm here because my lady asked me to be. We planned to meet here so that I could give you all safe escort through my land here. As you may have seen, you have more need of it than we had originally thought... As you can see, Angtherian troops have grown bolder since war was officially declared a while back. It appears that they declared war around the same time that Veos was attacked. Which... I, at least, feel is too much of a coincidence."

"Nnnn...thanks, Dimitri..."

Daethwin winced as he stood up again, rubbing at the bloody tears in his clothes. Wonderful, and he'd actually liked this cloak, too...

Josephine couldn't help her mind on any other fascination other than the recent events.

She looked at the formations of clouds then thought about the words that were spoken--war, and casualties; tensions were rising all around and the reasons were many, yet vague in her eyes.

She turned towards Elvira.

"Which direction did that Pegasus Rider go? The one with the Bandit?"

"Most likely towards Angtheria. Heading home to report on what happened here. Which... is unfortunate for us. We should be moving out soon."

"Yes, we should move out as soon as we can. I take it there were no casualties on our side?"

Noel stood and stretched. Resting for long didn't seem to be on the agenda today.

"I suppose I'm ready to go whenever you are, my lady."

The group quickly finished recuperating from the battle and set off. Their travels soon led them to Peryst, where they were quickly shown to their rooms in the castle. After a night of rest, they assembled in a meeting room to discuss future plans.

"So after hearing about the situation from Elivra, my spies worked along with Veros's to search for news of where the shards may have landed. We think we have found one of them on the border of Licha and Skelos. There are rumors of an area of the land being blanketed in darkness. No one knows what is causing it, but it started not long after the Emblem was shattered. The only other rumors we've heard involve Irat, but that is on the other side of the continent. Traveling there would take time, and increase the risk that other pieces might be found by those less friendly to us than the Iratians are. We would hear your thoughts on the situation though."

Violet was tremendously pleased by the castle's bathhouse, and her clothing was now blood-free. As such, she was in a pretty good mood.
: "If the Iratians are friendly with you, why not send them a messenger requesting that they hold onto the shard until we can arrive and take possession of it? In the meantime we can seek that first shard and keep our ears open for news of more."

This reminds me I have been out of the network for longer than I thought. I haven't heard any news from my partners in some time...

"A blanket of darkness, you say? Interesting! My vote goes toward investigating there."

It was a little obvious Noel was more interested in the occurrences taking place there than the possibility of a shard.

After having spent a good bit of the night repairing the holes and blood in his clothing, Dimitri had slept surprisingly well.
However, when hearing about the unnatural cloud of darkness and doom, Dimitri's reaction was about the exact opposite of Noel's.
:"Oh, wonderful. I bet the cloud of darkness hides an army of undead or something equally terrible. Still, probably the best place to go, lest one of our enemies get the ability to use said darkness death and despair clouds, etcetera."

"Welp, between the two, I say we hit the near one first.  Not sure I like how we're going the opposite way from Irat, but that's just a rumour.  We got nothing conclusive to go on t' find it when we get there, anyways."

"We've sent messages to Irat already, but heard nothing back from the yet. Either way, it appears that we're headed to the border of this land. I will be going with you, at least as far as my country extends. We shall see after that."

Chapter 3: Encroaching Shadows

Traveling through Licha quickly and quietly, you heard rumors of the darkness, growing stranger and more frightening the closer you got. Finally, you found yourself inside this strange darkness.

"We need to be careful here. There could be enemies in the shadows that---

Aeon was interrupted by an arrow landing right in front of him.

"We're under attack! Fight back as best you can!"
