I definitely do like the music, Its pretty kick ass.

Yeah, for the tiny bit I played before where I attempted to figure out what I needed to do so I don't amble about like a retard I landed on a random planet... It was mercury and promptly got attacked, I guess I should have realized Venus would have been a lot worse but oh well, It was okay.

Yeah, Star Control is rather difficult, and you have nothing that can do much against probes. You need to go talk to the starbase first and foremost.

Yeah, this is a completely blind run so I'm pretty much at a loss of what to attempt to do in the game, was the starbase the one orbiting earth?

Yep. It ends up as your home base, essentially.

Once you get started on the actual game, though, it should prove more interesting. There's a pretty ridiculous amount of content in there.
