The following excerpts were taken from a tattered journal in the ancient fortress of Orbsshocks. They detail life in the fortress during it's second year, as seen through the eyes of it's overseer, 4maskwolf. While much of the journal is filled with inane commentary and reports on the food supply, these excerpts contain information that could be of use in analyzing the foundation of the fortress and its eventual demise.
(no, I didn't lose the fort, this is hundreds of years in the future)

Goddamn this fortress is a mess.
The other dwarves asked me to take over command of the fortress after our founder mysteriously vanished, and I found myself in an unusual situation. As the only active member of the guard, as well as a military dwarf at heart, it is not within my personal guides to create the crafts this fortress may need in order to survive and thrive. Additionally, while basic living areas have been carved out, they are poorly furnished and only sufficient for the dwarves currently living in the fortress. This will have to change, for surely we will be joined by multitudes more.
2 Granite.
I was informed today that we do not have a manager. Or a bookkeeper. Or a broker. This will have to be remedied immediately. There are quite a few work orders I want to put through, including the basic furnishings we shall need. After appointing a manager, I immediately gave him a stack of work orders to approve and went back to the barracks.
15 Granite.
Work has begun on fulfilling the work orders I have requested. Large numbers of tables, chairs, doors, beds, and cabinets are being produced by mason and carpenter in residence. The miners have found a large cluster of magnetite and have begun to mine it out.
21 Granite.
Some migrants have arrived. I've put them to work hauling.
1 Slate.
Things are coming along nicely in the fortress so far. A new artifact was just created, an artifact bow produced by our now legendary bowyer.
12 Felsite:
The elves arrive. Along with the newly recruited military, I slaughtered them in the depot. Damn tree huggers.
On another note, since we now have four squads and no armor or weapons, I've put in work orders for 40 sets of steel armor and 40 steel weapons. The squads aren't currently filled, but one must plan ahead. The smelters are working around the clock on steel production, using previously mined dolomite and the large amounts of hematite and magnetite that are now laying around. Bituminous coal and lignite supply the coke needed to keep the smelters burning. The miners are still working to unearth more precious metals from the earth.
That's all for now, I'll give you some more later tonight!
Edit: also, I'm going to be having more of a story going forwards, particularly towards the end of the year.
