They are always hostile, they just pretend to be traders to lull you into a false sense of security... and when you fall for it... THEY SUDDENLY TRY TO CUT YOUR HEAD OFF WITH THEIR WOODEN SWORDS! Hey, I never said they were efficient in it....

lol.recently,i modded elves to carry steel weapons(many different,nasty steel weapons only they could make),have troops accompany their merchants and gave them some significant natural skills at dodge and archery,so now they're badass.but they're still chickens.i kill their merchants,cut their trees and oust their diplomat when they complain about it(though find it very hard to pass the limit they set me,how am i supposed to cut 101 trees in 1 year?usually,by the time he visits me i don't even have left 30 laying around in the first place...),offer them wood,seize their items,and they keep coming back...

thanks.have you seen an elf with a steel katana wrecking havoc among a goblin ambush?the only thing more awesome than the battle report,is the battle report of a dwarf with a steel katana wrecking havoc among countless goblin ambushes and sieges!sadly,i've never seen them used against me :/

not big fan of Katanas, they are too fragile, in my opinion.... on the other hand, DF does not include weapon degradation^^

no,it doesn't.yet.which is a nice thing in my opinion,it keeps things simple.the good thing about the katana,is that it's sharp.and it's designed for cutting,which makes for some pretty impressive battle reports of goblin pieces flying around.and although i didn't modded the weapons(i took them from masterwork),i'm thinking about modding kopeshes for more choppy goodness
