A MAC round is a giant laser beam, fired from space. It was created in Halo, I believe.

I'm 95% certain that MAC stands for Mass Accelerator Cannon, so a MAC round would be a large chunk of metal accelerated to a significant percentage of c by a railgun or something similar. So... No. Not a freaking giant laser beam at all.
