First things first, Thank you Hemmingjay for a copy of this game. Like I said, been interested in this game for awhile and appreciate the copy.
My first impressions of the game are that it has a ton of potential. I'm having fun with it, one just needs to go in with the mentality that it's a more casual game and though you do have a hunger meter, don't let it rush you. Also about the hunger, it does tick down a bit fast, and I think it could use a bit more tinkering. Raw meat only "heals" your hunger meter for 1, but I imagine other foods will fill more when I discover them(hoping so at least). I do think the hunger meter should either tick down a tad slower, or be expanded a bit since there's a lot of stopping to craft. It's really satisfying tinkering around with the crafting and successfully creating a new item, but one gripe I have is if you craft stacks, you get stacks. It's not so much an issue once you learn this but first couple of play throughs I was boned when I accidentally turned all my axe handles to pick handles and my axe broke.
One thing I do enjoy though is it meshes some really good parts of Terraria with Rogue Legacy, but slowing the pace down a bit that both of these have. The combat is hard enough to be satisfying, but easy enough to pick up on creature patterns and avoid if you're careful, while the obstacles add enough sense of danger to where it doesn't become overly repetitive. The music is a bit forgetable so far, but that can be a good thing since it's not distracting. It will be interesting to see where the game goes in the future.
