Thanks EJ, I've been trying to figure out how to best capitalize on that ever since I realized the reason one would marry courtiers to someone else's court :P

I always assumed I should send the people who liked me, as if they hate me when they are over there then lowered chance, but this actually makes a stupid amount of sense.

I should have fired my spymaster before handing you the save then. :p I guess if you want to use the console to fabricate a claim and declare war on your ailing father, it'd be okay too.

No you shouldn't have fired your spymaster.
I'm your spymaster.

I just have a terrible intrigue score and no plotters :P

Use the character search option.  Filter for men, your religion and unlanded, sorting by Intrigue score.  You want someone with an above zero opinion of you (you can raise it with gold) and a below -40 or so opinion of their liege, or someone with claims on titles their liege cannot press.  You can then invite them to your court and they can become your spymaster.  This is how I get really good (20+ Intrigue) spymasters.

But ply them with gold and titles until they have positive opinion to you.  A spymaster who dislikes you will betray you.

Like what I'm doing to Sheb :P

Oh, hey Sheb, where do you find the files to edit the names of characters? Leon is going to choose something hilarious and over the top for himself when he comes to power.

Just open the save with notepad or something, and search for "Leon" until you find the right guy. Then edit his name. Technically, looking for his ID would be easier, but I don't remember how to find out a character's ID.

but I don't remember how to find out a character's ID.

Open console, type "charinfo all", hover mouse over portrait.

Sorry for the lack of updates lately, I rediscovered that Skyrim is incredibly sexy. Stupid Sexy Skyrim.

Anyway, I kept trying to do the "marry people to daddies court" thing, and it kept saying they were leaving to his court, but they don't show up in the plotters list?

I'm confused now.

If you aut-invite them to plot them, you won't see them in the plotter list for a few days,

I'm not doing that, I mean they aren't selectable in the "invite to plot" list.

You probably have to wait for them to move to their new court and the plot menu to refresh.  Otherwise, the AI Emperor might just be smart enough to "get rid" of courtiers that don't like them (I think it's free for the Byzantine Emperor in regards to nobody courtiers).

So basically I'm stuck waiting for Shebinald to die?

Fuck.

I was actually wrong.  The Byzantine Emperor still gets tyranny for getting rid of courtiers that don't like them.  So just wait for the next in-game month and see if things have changed.

Honestly, I have no idea why you can't just automatically kill your dad.  Usually, if you invite the spymaster of a particular court into your plot, you get like 300 plot power for plots in that court.  Guess it was toned down for player characters as spymasters.  If you got a male with high intrigue and either ambitious or envious, marrying them matrilineally to any unmarried women in the Emperor's court could get you that spymaster ally.
