The History of Byzantium:The Reign of Sheb, Part 1The Reign of Sheb, Part 2The Reign of Sheb, Part 3The Revolt of Iituem the FirstThe Reign of Sheb the Mad, Part 4Hello and greetings gentlemen. After Digital Hellhound brought it up in the IRC, i decided to set up this Thread.
What is this here? Simple i am gauging interest for a Megacampaign of Paradoxes Crusader Kings II, Europa Universalis IV (and if we get farhter than that), its other games.)
There are however several twists:
First of all it will be a Succession Game. Each Player will thus play a ruler until his death (no matter how short or long that rule is) and then turns the save over to the next player.
Secondly depending on which nation we choose i will implement some Special Rules for it just to make things more interesting...that is if you want that.
Nations available and Special Rules:
The Alan Tribes( Duke of Alania, Vassal to Khazaria, 867 Start)1. Never take more than you need:
An Alan Ruler may only start one war of expansion during his lifetime and thats it. No matter what casus belli you may or may not have you may only claim territory once.
2.To the last Drop:
However you may start an indefinite amount of wars to take back land that either belongs to the De Jure Alan Kingdom or the Alan Culture.
3.The Holy Land has been pacified now its not our business anymore:
While you may partake in an indefinite amount of Crusades and get land this way during your rule, you have to grant it independence. Yes i am aware that that is a way of getting more land...but it should keep growth in check
Summary: If you want to play the Alan Tribes, you are in it for the Long Run. Slow Expansion, huge enemies, desperate last stands and finally technological disadvantage once we reach the EUIV stage. On the Upside you got Cataphract Cavalry...
The Vlachs(Count in Bulgaria, 867 Start)1. A Home:
As Vlachs your goal is to form your own Nation (Wallachia) and keep it. Until that goal is achieved you may not form any other kingdom or usurp any other kingdom. Also no conquest may be made as long as Wallachian De jure territory or Vlach Culture Provinces are under foreign rule
2.Blood Feud:
You may never have a dynastic marriage or an alliance with the Bulgarians or the Byzantine Empire. THose damn bastards suppressed you one time too many.
3.Balkan Federation:
You not only have an obligation to your own people but also to the people of the Balkan. You may only expand further if all Provinces consisting of a Balkan Culture are owned by their repsective nations, in other words: all Serbian Provinces belong to Serbia(or its respective nation), all Croatian Provinces belong to Croatia, all Avar regions belong to an Avar nation...however nobody said that you couldn't conquer them first and then put on your Avar/Serb/Croatian Cousin as the King.
4. Good Neighbours:
you also have to make sure that Transylvania stays independent.
Summary: Not only do you have to gain independence from Bulgaria first, but then you have to fight tooth and nail against the Magyars the Bulgars and the Cumans to keep your poor nation afloat. and If you have managed that you have to make sure the other minor cultures are not dying off. yay. Did i mention that the Byzantine Emprie will propably send Doomstacks of Cataphracts and Varangians your way if you even so much as look at the wrong way at them?
The Yazidids (Duke of Yazidids, 867 Start)1. Open Succession:
a Player may declare a favourite heir beforehand in case he dies before the age of 50. However once he reaches the Age of 50 all future players in the waiting list now have to choose one of the Rulers Male Children (since sadly only agnatic succession is possible). Once that is done i will roll for each kid a d6, the kid with the highest roll gets to be the Successor and the current player has to make sure that that kid suceeds to the throne. Once the New Player is in place he has to imprison all siblings who partook in the Open Succession and execute them. No exemptions. Children who are born after the age of 50 are lucky and do not need to be executed.
2. Kurdish Land: The Yazidids need to turn themselves back into Kurds and conquer all Kurdish cultural provinces. After that its the players individual choices how to continue the dynasty religiously or culturally. But before that goal is not achieved no religious or cultural change aside from turning into Kurds may be done.
Byzantine Empire (Byzantine Emperor, 867 start) 1. Palace Revolution:
Upon Death of an Emperor the mightiest vassal will be chosen and a random player. If that player wants to he can try and rebel against the emperor, or he can let the save pass on to the next player that would usually take over. If he chooses to rebel, that player MUST immediately declare war against the Emperor to take the throne. If he suceeds the new dynasty will continue the Empire. If he fails, the player who would usually follow in the line will take up the role of the Actual Heir of the Emperor and continue the game with the Old Dynasty.
2.The Wishes of the Patriarchs:
For each Patriarch in-game existence ( to the maximum of the Pentarchy of five) a player will be randomly bestowed that title upon the beginning of the reign of a new emperor. Each Patriarch offers one wish (no matter how ludicrous or impossible it is) which the Emperor must fulfill in the Name of the Faith. Until those wishes are fulfilled (a wish going like "make sure Wallachia stays independent" of course allows you to conquer other lands as long as it is independent) the emperor may not make any conquests or gain land.
3. Life at Court is sooo boring:
Each Time an Interesting Character ( different religion, different culture, really cool combination of traits) appears at the Emperors court he has to immediately grant him Lands and titles. Every. Single. Time. You may also give them your vassals titles instead. But you are FORCED to give titles to them, it doesnt matter which ones as long as it is at least county-level.
You may also specify different countries with a combination of your choosing of the rules above or some fo your own if you have some quite amusing. I will then add them to the poll...
Wishes by other players:The Golden Horde (Golden Horde Bookmark, of course the Monghol Khan)1.Getting rid of the Brothers:
Once a new Heir sits upon the Throne all potential people in the line of succession need to be satisfied with an independent Ducal-Level Title.
2. Viel Feind, Viel Ehr:
You always have to attack the strongest neighbour first. No swallowing of tiny nations.
3. Wait that didn't happen (optional):
play with Sunset invasion activated
4. Always on the Move:
You may never own more than three kingdoms. Once you theoretically conquered a fourth you have to grant one of them independence.
Crusades, Jihads and other Shenanigans(867, Start)We will take the 867 scenario and assign the Nation with the most levies to the first player. That player immediately has to declare a holy war against a nation of his preference. Whatever he invaded, if he suceeds he has to give the conquered land independence and then continues to play it until his death.
Then a random player will be slected to be his heir. That player will then continue the nation to play until his death.
Then the second player in the waitlist will take the Nation with the second most levies at that point of the game and start a fresh holy war against another country of his choosing. And so on and so forth.
Example:
Player A plays HRE, he declares Holy War against the Obotrites. Once subjugated he gives them independence and he and a random player play that nation.
upon the Death of the Random Player, Player B takes the role of the Abbasids, since they have the second most levies currently and declares a Holy War against the Byzantine Empire. He then gives the conquered lands in greece independence and he and another random player continue to play that nation.
Upon the death of the random player, Player C will take over as Spain and so on and so forth...
Holy wars will get exceedingly harder and should you fail a holy war you have to pass on the save to the next player who will start with the nation next lower on the total levy count.
