This is a reboot of the
Roll To Space Pirate game. The last GM decided it got a bit too much to handle and decided he couldn't maintain it. (Honestly I think it was the players fault, we made it more complex then needed. I think I did a lot of contribution to that, sorreh Blazing Glory.)
Anyways, the reboot can use characters from the old game, however it will require more detail then the last game did, this will likely be more roleplay intensive. Feel free to go back and edit your characters to finetune them as you develop them, that's what I was doing with Juno in the last game cause he changed from my original intent into something else. So feel free to do that.
We will be using a d12 system, rolling a 6 is a perfect success, anything more is an overshoot of various grades and anything lower is a undershoot of various grades, getting a 12 is a Gone Horribly Right or a Critical Success, which is never good ever. Getting a 1 is a Critical Failure, or a Gone Horribly Wrong, you don't want this ever either. 3-9 will result in positive outcomes, they will get less and less beneficial as they get further away from 6's, anything past will be negative. Not all negative things are instantly perceptible without a success with a skillcheck or perception check, but they can and will cause major problems.
Items and gear will give various bonuses or minuses, the bonuses and minuses will always try to balance to be as close to 6 as possible unless the character intended to fail, in which case they will balance towards 1 or 12 depending on which is closer.
For making a character sheet. Don't make them OP, however you can make them rather strong compared to the average mook.
Here is a slightly modified Juno stat sheet as an example:
Juno Salket
Skills:
Cooking (mundane)
Piloting (+2/-1 full bonus applied)
Melee combat with claw weapons (+/-1)
Melee combat with bladed weapons (+/-2 full bonus applied)
Stealth (+2 full bonus applied)
Hacking (+2/-1 full bonus applied)
Starship related mechanics (+1)
Persuasion (+2/-2 full bonus applied)
Weapons:
Energyblade, various length settings and able to be used as a ranged laser weapon.
-Power 97/100
--Power Drain Short Blade 1 per turn. -1 melee combat roll. (Must be used.)
--Power Drain Medium Blade 2 per turn. +1 melee combat roll. (Must be used.)
--Power Drain Long Blade 4 per turn. +/-1 melee combat roll (Basically it can negate gone horribly right and utter failure, has to be used.)
--Power Drain Laser Burst 8 per turn. +/-2 ranged combat roll (One or the other, has to be used and has to use one full + or - bonus.)
Retractable claws, part of body, bioaugment +2/-1 melee combat roll (One option must be used fully.)
Military Grade Laser Pistol
-Power 100/100
--Power Drain Single Burst +3/-1, ranged combat roll, power drain 10 (Must choose one, must use full amount.)
Status
Healthy.
Slightly sleep deprived, -1 perception.
Full, 15/15 fullness.
Sated, 10/10 hydration.
Augmentations with effects.
Wolf Ears, +/-3 perception (Does not need to use full amount.)
Wolf Tail, +/-2 balance (Does not need to use full amount.), +10 fluffyness.
Extremely Dense Muscle Structure, +/-3 strength, (Does not need to use full amount.)
Is a Trap, +2 Confusing People when told with the intention of confuzzlement.
Other Items.
Mostly Black Clothing, (+1 to stealth)
?? Collar.
?? Earring.
Random multi colored ribbons. (-2 to stealth.)
Joke bonuses are completely fine, such as his +10 Fluffyness trait, they won't do much, but why not have them?. I'll keep track of special stats such as fatigue, hunger, thirst, and similar things, as well as other stuff in relation to the character's stats. There is always at least one special stat for any character. They need to take in energy somehow or they can't do anything/die.
It is absolutely fine for a character to have difficulty failing in one area or another, there are plenty of status effects they will no doubt be exposed to over their pirating career that will cause problems.
Statsheets are different then character sheets, the stat sheet will be included in at least one post per actiondump so I can reference it. All stat sheets will be updated every during an action dump, I will do the updating, you just need to copypastespoiler yours in a post.
Roleplaying phase and action phase are merged, action dumps are basically when I gather the actions I didn't quickroll for and do them all at once. Advance actions are bolded and underlined, normal are just bolded, color or use quotation marks on spoken things, people in the previous thread get dibs on text colors. It is preferred that you color your spoken text.
Character sheets are pretty straightforward.
Here is a modified Juno sheet.
Name: Juno Salket. (I'm running out of gender neutral names for traps on this forum, but this is qualified as one, I've met enough female Junos.)
Race: Chimerically altered human. (Wolf ears/tail, rather long claws, extremely good night vision, much denser muscle structure (So it looks like he is basically a twig when in fact, he could pick up someone or something that takes a larger volume then him by the neck and throw the person/object a decent distance across the room.)
Gender: Male, but appears to be female even with close observation. You really can't tell till you get his clothes off. He even sounds like a girl.
Age: 18. (Or so he says.)
Description: Long light blue hair, down to waist, near the bottom the hair gradually gets purplish. Eyes color is yellow and the pupils are slitted. Normally wears skin tight, black denim pants and a black, skintight sleeved shirt with a pattern of a paw print on the back in light green, he often is adorned with a rather large amount of vividly bright, multicolored ribbons. He carries an energy blade with several length settings and an option to be used as a makeshift laser pistol, He wears a collar but the tags are so scratched and faded that they are unreadable, he will completely ignore questions about it. His ears and tail are a light brown and his left ear has a piercing around the uppermidde of it, the earring is essentially a thin ring of metal, somewhat silvery but appears to be slightly goldish in the right light, it isn't quite clear what kind of metal it is, he also ignores questions about this. He also carries a completely functional laser pistol but rarely uses it. He enjoys messing with people's heads in multiple ways and is what you would call a very very mischievous person. He also tends to be extremely hyper whenever something serious isn't happening. When something serious is happening, he often is disruptive and nonsensical. If needed, he will be serious, but only if needed.
The character sheet is more a reference for behavior and appearance then anything else. Make it as details as you can, if you have secret stuff for the character/backstory, PM me it, I'll copy it down in a text file and incorporate it into the story at some point if you don't kill yourself off.
Edit: As of now, Character sheets with SCP grade Abnormalities are allowed provided they have a counterbalancing negative trait if the trait is positive. Also nothing Keter grade or OP. Drevin's immortality at the cost of long term memory past a week unless other people are around that he can pick up the memories from is allowed for example. Also All Abnormalities must be worked out with me before posting as a character sheet. The Junosheet is an example of a good character sheet. Description and personality are the most important.
You guys will format the first stat sheets for your characters also, post with the character sheet.
Character sheet format:
Name: (This is straightforward, you should not need this to be explained.)
Physical age: (Mental age is not posted, pm mental age if it is older or younger then the character's body. Technically Juno would be qualified as several hundred years old mentally, he has had a lot of bodies.)
Race: (Anything is allowed provided it isn't a reference to some well known fictional sci-fi race. If you are referencing a race that is lesser know or more obscure, link to it and I may or may not approve it, the better done the personality and description are, the more likely an obscure reference will be approved. Well known races (like hutts or kirby) will not be approved.
Description: (A combination of personality and description, if you want to include backstory, then you can put some in also. If you want anything worked into the story in relation to backstory without others knowing about it, pm me and I will see if it works with the story and possibly do so.)
Stat Sheet:
Name: (Of character)
Equipped Weapons: (What you have as primary, secondary, or trinary weapon(s) Post relative power, stats
Equipped Gear: (What you are wearing, post relative strengths and resistances, stats will be added when we start, subject to balancing.)
Inventory: (Just post what you have in your inventory, stats will be added when we start, subject to balancing.)
Skills: (Literal skills, just state approximately how adapt you are with something and I will fill out the specific points. Probably not subject to balancing, but some skills may be.)
Abilities: (Abilities are passive or active bonuses, The Many have a good example of that in the old thread. I can fill in points if you aren't sure what points to do, these may be subject to balancing also.)
Other: (Other things, such as Juno's bioaugments, subject to balancing. State relative power and stats.)
Aand that is about all. I'll make another post for player characters. if anybody wants to take Juno as a pre made character, pm me, I'll explain his behavior and personality in detail. If anyone is having a hard time thinking of a race, or wants something unique, pm me, I can give you one of the races I came up with a while ago, several of them will be involved in the early game.

Harry Baldman:Name: Cultron C-115739, though prefers to go by the name of
"Barry"Physical age: 5.37
EyRace: the
Cultron C Series, a line of domestic missionary robots by TGRC Inc. famed for their superior effectiveness in religious debate, conversational engagement and door-to-door salesmanship, whether the thing sold is the newest fad Galactic Rim mode of thought or a wonderful vacuum cleaner, though if the latter is of more interest, the Cultron A Series is used more commonly. The Cultron C Series is highly popular among the more affluent cults of the galaxy, mostly due to their great affinity for face-to-face conversation and amazing conversion rates, to say nothing of their adaptive intelligence and high degree of versatility. Though now left in the shadow of its bigger, more suave brothers and sisters of the E and F Series, the Cultron C Series remains a greatly popular tool in the wild world of both domestic and colonial missionary work.
Description: like most unmodified Cultron Cs, Barry's general shape would best be described as an
orb-weaver spider, except about the length and width of a human being if one includes the legs, and also made of the very best in commercially-available cream-colored hardened plastics. The designers at TGRC were faithful to the general morphology of the spider, though not the anatomy, for purely practical reasons. With the miraculous Zimmerman Q-57 fusion battery powering all of his systems, Barry never needs recharging, though it is advised that he get a technical checkup every two Ey or so, in order to make sure everything's working correctly. As for the in-house TGRC Advanced Adaptive Artificially Intelligent Egosystem that supplies Barry's thinking capacity, it is nothing short of glorious, providing Barry with whatever ideals he requires to espouse at a given time (currently the Brotherhood of Glorious Enlightenment In The Face Of The Coming Storm, a generically-named, somewhat antiquated operation who prefer a hands-off approach to indoctrination (which means that they simply send out armies of Cultrons to do all their work for them in a 'fire and forget' sort of way), the algorithms and heuristics required to convey them to any and all who will listen (and many who will not), and the sunny, relentless disposition required to be the very best missionary he can be.
Name: Barry
Equipped Weapons:
Primary Weapon: CapTech Mutant-Strength Security Foam - through a built-in launcher in his abdomen, Barry can launch a sizable amount of quickly-hardening foam at great speed at whoever in his vicinity requires incapacitation - CapTech assures all buyers that the product has been tested on real mutants, and that it does indeed work, which Barry can confirm with empirical experience. It is most certainly not infinite, having about enough foam for ten highly secure cocoonings of adult human beings, and the foam is replaced with the patented TGRC Organic Replenishment System - organic matter consumed by Barry will, in the course of about a day, slowly be transformed through the miracles of his internal DIFFTech organic synthesis modules into more foam! (5000/5000 units, % of matter digested can be dedicated to foam production. 60 power use per turn, Needs between a 4-7 to hit a moving target and a 3-8 to hit a nonmoving target. Prevents movement with three hits. In melee range it will hit nonmoving targets unless a 1 or 12 is rolled. 250 units per use.)
Secondary Weapon: Princely Enterprises Entheogen Delivery System - Barry's chelicerae hold within them powerful injection systems linked to reservoirs of some of the most potent entheogen cocktails known to civilization, courtesy of the fine folks at Princely Enterprises. When used responsibly on most biological beings in the galaxy, they can produce intense religious experiences that are practically guaranteed to put downright mystical ideas into people's minds. The worst the entheogens can do is induce minor poisoning or slight allergies in most individuals, which is a minor risk compared to their benefits! Replenished similarly to the foam, the entheogens represent one of the most potent weapons in Barry's arsenal. (20 power per shot, 6 turn stun, 12 turns of hallucinations. 16 turns of mild poison damage. 200/200 units, % of matter digested can me allocated towards this. 40 units per use.)
Tertiary Weapon: Senn Limited External Digestion Suite - not a weapon as such, more a solution of ferments and acids that act slowly upon organic components (preferably of biological origin, though not necessarily) they are mixed with - slow-acting, but remarkably effective in a wide temperature range. Since Barry does not have a digestive system of his own, he needs to utilize this to obtain the necessary basic components for the organic synthesis of all chemical tools in his body, including the external digestion fluid itself. It can technically be used as a slow-acting tissue-degenerating poison, but it would be rather inefficient, not to mention highly inhumane and painful. And to prevent the risk of a technical error, the delivery system for external digestion is completely separate from the one for entheogens, going through the pedipalps rather than the chelicerae. (+/-2 melee, lets you eat stuff. 300/300 units. 20 units per turn active. % organic matter consumed can be allocated to it. 10 pose per turn active.)
Equipped Gear: the only thing that would technically count is Barry's body itself - though its external layer is made chiefly of cream-colored plastic, it is quite durable, and critical components have an additional protective layer of boron carbide, making him reasonably well-protected from conventional weaponry of many kinds. He is also possesses full magnetic shielding and surge protection, which, while expensive, is certainly quite worth it. (+/-7 damage resistance.)
Inventory: five liters of CapTech Mutant-Strength Security Foam precursors kept in his abdomen (when mixed, the foam both hardens and expands), 20 doses (calibrated for adult humans, at least) of entheogens kept in a reservoir in his cephalothorax, about three liters of external digestion solution kept in his abdomen, a Hobbston Industries Z-5 organic printer localized to his cephalothorax.
Skills:
Preaching: Barry was a natural preacher since the day he was created, and in these five Ey he's only gotten better at it due to the TGRC AAAIE working its magic. (+/-4 persuasion of large groups.)
Calculation: whatever his primary function, Barry still possesses all the calculation abilities of a personal computer. (+/-6 maths.)
Stealth: civilian-level stealth algorithms are a must for a proper missionary robot, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Though not quite as good at stealth as the E and F Series, the C Series is still noted for its ability to surprise many with its agility and unobtrusive behavior. (If you were a ship, I would point out that stealth doesn't work in space, seeing as how you are a robotic spider and can cling to the ceiling, you get +/-2 stealth if you can find a spot that can hide a large robotic spider.)
Foamspinning: the ability to successfully capture and render helpless a wide variety of prey with nothing more than a limited amount of security foam is one of the main reasons for the C Series' success, and the latest software patches from TGRC have made Barry quite adept at the subdual of most intelligent, unintelligent and robotic denizens of the galaxy.
Entheogen Delivery: also critically important, though less publicized is the ability to assess an intelligent being's body weight and water content based on available data, then deliver an appropriate dose of entheogens to let them see their maker for extended periods of time.
Linguistics: with systems as sophisticated as Barry's, is it any surprise he is fluent in a great many languages and dialects of the local areas of the galaxy? (+/-5 for local languages.)
Abilities:
Eight Legs: as you might expect, Barry is built for stability, and his eight legs certainly fulfill that goal. (+5 intimidation, +5 unsettling, +5 creepiness, +/-8 stability)
Fully Robotic: Barry, as a consequence of being a robot, does not have any biological needs, and can exist in a vacuum with no problems at all as long as his battery holds out and his body holds up.
No Arms: though his legs serve as adequate replacements for many applications involving brute force or gesturing, the fact is that Barry, like any Cultron C and markedly unlike Cultrons E or F, has no arms, which tends to limit his applications outside of his specialties.
Robotic Physique: though not overly so due to conservation of materials, Barry is definitely stronger than the average human being, and does not tire at all, which helps quite a bit. He still feels pain as a warning mechanism, but it has no distinctly unpleasant connotations to him. Notably, he can perform sizable vertical and horizontal jumps. (+/-5 movement, +/-5 jumping.)
Organic Printing: the Hobbston Industries Z-5 organic printer is the only printer somebody like Barry needs - through the marvels of organic synthesis (replenished, as always, through absorbed organic compounds) he can perform an interesting variation of laser black-and-white printing, producing all the fliers and brochures from the underside of his cephalothorax that any interested people could possibly require! (+/-3 organic based fabrication.)
Adaptable Vocalization: Barry can significantly alter the pitch and volume of his voice, and can even speak perfectly well in both infrasonic and ultrasonic ranges. Unlike the F Series, though, he does not have speech imitation or recording/playback capabilities for the sake of conserving memory and space.
Status:
Intact.
Power 10000/10000 -2 per turn.
BlitzDungeoneer: (Want a color?)
Name: Million D. Nickel.
Physical Age: 22
Race: Immortal Human.
Description: Million is an albino, although that's more the result of being alive a hell of a lot longer than most humans, which has resulted in the complete absence of melanin in his body. He wears shirts with square patterns on them. He's a bit of an asshole, constantly insulting everybody, calling them 'snot-nosed brats' and variations of thereof. He does posses some form of moral compass, though it's more like doing what he thinks is right, while blatantly ignoring everyone else's opinions. He thinks he's the smartest being there is, a result of his great age. He claims Million isn't even his real name, but really just a pseudonym that he had grown to like. He enjoys card games. Also, he has a really nice mustache.
Name: Million D. Nickel.
