Nearly all of my (SP) games have been on random maps so - and you may be starting to sense a pattern in my responses here - I don't have any preference (or clue) on which map we use.

Alright, so with 9 players, we'll probably go for a "big" map.

Anyone against Valanis ?

Other settings ...
Magic sites at default (or just a bit higher) ?
Random event rates : low or normal ? (I'm all for the higher)
Thrones ... A little dozen of level 1 ? maybe put two or three level 2 ? 70% throne points needed to win ?

I prefer default sites/events/indie strength but it's up to you guys. No preference on map.

On the other settings, I like to raise the magic sites to 45-50, but otherwise I usually leave them all on default.

9 lvl1
3 lvl2
Points needed : 9/15 ?
Even with all the level2 thrones, it still means half the thrones. If we get the lvl2 on different points of the map, it may be hard to get a "sneaky" victory even with those.

Default settings for the most part. Hall of Fame to 15.
Some more sites could be nice.

A no throne game never ends. I like the throne mechanic.
For that player count, I'd like something like a third of max ascension points.

I'm personally a fan of Valanis.

Well, there is the event rate and the throne numbers, as it seems that we'll go for Valanis and that the other options are usually left at default.

Event Rate is up to you guys, I don't care either way.
I usually play Valanis with 12 lvl1, 6 lvl2, 3 lvl3 thrones and 22 points needed, but I can imagine that's not for everybody.

Well, that's 2.3 thrones per nation, so yeah, that would be a bit too much... :/
