"We heard you have a spider problem. We thought we'd offer our services as mercenaries and get rid of that problem. For an appropriate fee of course."

He looked at the group, and then laughed.

"Five girls, a Razab, and one scruffy sailor? Yeah, I can see the spiders running away already." He resumed his count, but then stopped for a moment.

"And how much do you expect me to pay?" The ratty man crossed his arms on his chest, leaning into his chair.

"First off, I think you have a counting problem. Only three of us are girls, and it's a shame. If it were five of us who were girls, this problem would be so much easier. No offense boys. Second of all, you insulting us gains you nothing. After all, if we die down in your mines or fail to clear out the spiders, you don't have to pay us. So instead you're just risking chasing off apparently the only group willing to help you. Third... I was thinking at least 50 gold per spider we kill, but after you insulted us like that, I'm more inclined to say 100 gold per spider."

"Hmph! I can wait a day longer and find a group willing to do it for half the price." He replied and then looked down at his papers.

"I heard from workers who fled that there was only one brood mother amongst the few spiders that came. Bring me her ugly head and I will pay you four hundred. I don't care if you kill or simply scare the rest away. My mine is in heavily forested side of the hills north of Revalde, is the only one there. The spiders must have their nest somewhere nearby."

"And don't try to open the mines' doors! Only I have the key, so if I get a word the doors got open, you will pay for it. Now leave please, I have business to attend to." With that, he grumbled something under his nose and picked his abacus, resuming his counting - apparently right where he stopped.

Ayleen counted again.
"So one of us is a boy?" she whispered to Dustine.
There was a total of Dany, Selina, herself and Dustine.
...
That wasn't three people.

"Makes sense though. If we all wait another day, then the spiders would do more damage so funds would be relocated to repairs than payment."

"Hmmph. Fine. We'll take it. But, we keep anything we find in the process and if there are any dangers outside the ones you've described, we bring proof and we get extra pay."

The mine owner just waved his hand at Dustine, quite possibly not even listening to her at all.

Dustine heads to the mine.

~~Gaiden Chapter A~~

The group headed for the mines. The area being 'heavily forested' was an understatement - there were moments when they've passed through thicket so thick and trees so tall that they blocked the sun on the sky from view.

However, there was a definite path through the thicket, the trampled grass and shoe tracks in the mud leading through the forest.

In the meanwhile, the weather changed from sunny to cloudy, and from cloudy to rainy after a while. At first, it was a warm, delicate summer rain, but then it turned into a downpour. Then the downpour lessened by the time they've got to a place when they began hearing voices.

High-pitched, clicking, hissing voices. And clusters of red eyes staring from between the trees.

Waiting patiently.

"Aaaand~ we're here!...Or it seems to be the place. Always as forested and chirpy as always."

"I'd advise to stick to open ground where we can easily engage them. Nothing speaks of home ground advantage like webs, trees and a tangled web."

Ayleen looked at Esori.

"I never knew you were a girl." she whispered, presumably in a joking tone.

"I hate, the rain." Selina shakes her head to get the water out of her eyes as she rides in to attack!

Move to 5,7. Shoot Spider C. Move to 6,7.
