Flying enemies

Are there any flying enemies in sieges or other flying enemies that also have building destroyer abilities? Like flying to a window and breaking in through it kind of enemies? Just thinking about it from a defensive perspective since that would make all windows weak points in an above ground forts.

Not commonly. I think some clowns will be able to do this, though. Windows aren't typically targeted, they're just treated like regular wall tiles that are transparent.

I might be wrong since I never build windows but I think they are targeted by building destroyers. Some Titans can fly I think, as can Rocs, Dragons and the above ground clowns who attack you as leader of a goblin or human civ.

But, and I can be wrong again, a BD cannot destroy a building while flying. So any windows built 1 z-level above ground level should be safe. Or fun.

I like how we always send the poor newcomers and less experienced players to do crap and get science done for us...

Building destroyers have to have a place to stand next to the object to destroy it. The way that flyers works, I believe, means that they can not touch a window in a wall where there is no ledge.

He's invited people to come along and experience the journey with him (and help him test it out as he goes along). At the end of the day, I don't think his main goal is to sell Dwarf Fortress, its just to create the best game possible.

Dragons can't fly, unfortunately. They don't have wings. Cave dragons, on the other hand, do have wings, but they still can't fly.

I always wonder why the hell the cave dragons didn't got to my entrance on the caverns... Their wings are aesthetic... Well, kinda explains this.

I've had humans show up on flying eagles (consistently for that one civ) but they don't destroy buildings.  And I have indeed seen goblins on giant bats. (or was that humans too? now i'm not sure)

Flyer pathfinding is buggy enough and unmodded flying building destroyers so rare that you're probably safe 99% of the time, assuming you're not planning a glass window & steel bar sladescraper into the circus.

My current project fort has some flying FBs I haven't gotten around to killing and a surplus of inferior ≡green glass window≡s cluttering up the stockpiles. I'll put out an experimental platform in the cavern and see if anything comes to visit.

Well, considering that the flying enemies could just fly over your walls and probably land somewhere with a access to a tile next to a window, I think that means windows at least in theory are not safe.

I will build a large above ground fort with a lot of windows and see if I get any flying enemies to break in. It has never happened to me before in previous versions...
