A small tip, I do believe on the offchance that you end up in a war against the pirates that isles of the deep are the safest bet for victory, as unless you have massive technological superiority (as the University might end up having) there is the odd chance that the Pirates might steal all of your boats. Your high tech, invincible boats now streaming towards your bases.

PLANETFALL: A WHOLE NEW WORLD

It has not been long since the disaster of the Unity mission left seven factions scattered around Planet. The mutiny, the assassination, the terror... Something foul happened on that ship, but for all the survivors knows the conspirators may be amongst them or already be dead. Nevertheless, 7 factions survived, and 7 factions will strive to lead humanity to ascendency amongst the stars. This isn't just Alpha Centauri, this is Bay12's Alpha Centauri - who will see their ambitions through to the end?

Sparta command has been set up on the largest island of a remote archipelago, away from the other factions and where they can build their strong society in peace; and should it come to war - the Spartans have been building their world for such a day, and they are ready to meet any of their lesser brethren in combat. Those who have let themselves become fat and lazy in their pursuits of material gain should look towards the Spartans for signs of danger.
They made planetfall with a scout rover, a transport foil and 10 colony pods.
The transport foil can move over sea and bring 2 land units with it.

Workers were already setting up the infrastructure to begin basic harvesting of the nearby high energy sources, and even better - the escape pod had landed just next to an unusual rocky outcrop, a sunny mesa that was in constant abundance of solar energy just ripe for the picking. With the base for production and commerce constructed, Morgan Industries looks to be able to start building a new economy.
