So is the game always going to be on the T-Engine?  Because ugh, blugh, blech, blleurhghgh.

It's just an irrational personal preference but I liked Incursion's UI.  I dunno, it made me feel immersed.

The game is going to be on T-Engine since it's really powerful and allows for a lot of stuff with little effort - considerably less than writing a game from scratch.

If you liked Incursion's UI, you could share what you liked? The infobox on the right containing name-xp-race-class-state-stats? The asterisks for wounds? Because I can't imagine anyone liking Incursion's equipment screen, for example, the in-the-air slot...

Retropunch - how do you like this screen?

Green denotes suggested class based on your attributes. Light blue means your race's favored class.
Remaining problems include multiple golden highlight for selection and stats table not refreshing on reroll.

... oh, and the textbox still doesn't work and the load premade is broken for some reason, too.

I tried this. I have a pretty high end pc. It is very slow. It defaults to 1980x1200. I tried lowering this setting down in windowed mode. The window would go off to the side and as soon as I moved the window it would return to 1980x1200. I tried turning off several other graphical settings, but it was still too slow to use.

also when i go to character generatoin, the initial screen is just white.

would this work better if i downloaded t-engine instead of using the standalone? How do i run this from with in t-engine?

I actually like that.  I guess I was thinking of the sample game that comes with the T-Engine, which left a bad taste in my mouth.  Maybe I'm just being curmudgeonly because I liked the original Lord of the Rings TOME3.

Someone else had an identical problem on roguetemple, sounds like a T-Engine/resolution problem. I am afraid I won't be much help, as my resolution is 1366x768 and the other contributor (Sebsebeleb) used 1600x900.

You could try installing T-Engine separately. If you still get the problem, I suggest dropping a line at forums.te4.org so that the engine's creator can fix it ASAP.

You can copy the VotE folder from standalone/modules into your T-Engine installation's modules folder.
I will see about uploading a module zip to ModDB, which you can then drop in the same folder after changing the extension to .team.

Finished wrangling the code for a new character creation screen.

You can grab it by going to GitHub and pressing download zip, and then unpacking the folder to the /modules folder of your VotE or T-Engine installation.

There's a nit or two left, that's why I'm not releasing a new beta yet.

That's right, item creation feats are being done. This is Craft Arms and Armor, the wizard is selecting the bonus he wants to apply to an existing item. Creating items from scratch will take some more time, alas.

Don't know when the next release will be, as I have come down with a cold. Argh.

Beta 5.2 is out, grab it from GitHub or BitBucket or wait for ModDB authentication.

Also, I found a workaround which allowed me to upload a module file to te4.org in spite of md5 being reported as nil due to engine bug - the md5 entry accepts anything I type in, it turns out :P

As you might have noticed in the release notes, dungeon generation was changed. Do you like it?
(in the future, I plan to have it so that you can have one level with one generator and then another with a different generator, just testing them out)

Any preferences? Suggestions?

Based on player feedback, I've added explicit instructions to the character creation screen.

I also killed a bug where a confused player tried to increase the rolled stats - which should not be possible anyway - and got a lua error because the stat was less than 8.

Also, adding a tutorial level has been suggested. Any ideas?

Two different players sent me error logs regarding spellbook and higher-level spells.
I've reproduced the problem (spellbook displaying spells a level early, so you can't learn yet), fix coming tomorrow or in 2 days.

That's in between adding a crapload of other stuff, most notably a randomized lore system, as I have to pass a course and one of the ways of doing so is making a text generator :D

You might have noticed I've revised the README to make it more readable.

Also, a big thing has been crossed off my list, namely polymorphing. That means mounts should be done tomorrow and the next beta should be up on Monday, as usual.

Did I promise you mounts and riding? Yeah, I did.

This fighter has a heavy warhorse for a mount. If the player clicks the mount button, the fighter will perform accordingly - his speed will be increased and the horse will disappear from screen. Another click will then dismount, making the horse show up again.

I fixed a problem two players reported with being unable to memorize 2nd level spells (and getting an error instead) as Wiz3. Added a check which might seem spurious but prevents similar errors in the future. I also improved the right-hand part of the screen to be more readable.
