Tear down a tree or two. Push them in front of one of our vehicles to serve as minesweeper

That or just bombard the mines out of the ground using our mortars.
This is better than my plan... +1!

This will work... Until it hits the first mine, and the tree ceases to exist. I think now would be the best time to use those militia we have. They aren't going to gain experience, as they're militia anyways, and this will help speed up the process. We also don't want to risk losing our armor if we have expendable infantry, anyways. especially if they get replaced at the end of the missions.

Throw militia at the mines.
Have our men wait 5 minutes before throwing militia at the mines.

@adwarf: Would it be too difficult to put a unit update and map key in each turn? It would help in understanding the situation better, but I understand if it takes a bit more. Maybe every 2-3 turns?

Militia are not completely useless. IIRC, they loose their militia status after 2 battles.

If they survive and get at least two unit kills in those two battle, I think.

I would ask why fire can burn two men to death without getting hot enough to burn a book, but then I read "INEXTINGUISHABLE RUNNING KAMIKAZE RADIOACTIVE FLAMING ZOMBIE" and realized that logic, reason, and physics are all occupied with crying in the corner right now.

This has been extremely fun to run, and I thank all of you guys for participating, but I must now say that I am dropping it almost entirely because I've accomplished a lot of what I wanted to do when I set out to run this which was testing out the system to see how well it works. You guys were a great help in testing this and helped my find a number of things that needed to be fixed, most of which revolved around an overabundance of ammunition or from my rather slapdash method of rolling crits which revolved around making lists on the spot. Any who I'm not going to end it at just that, to those interested below you can find the ruleset I was using along with the existing unit stat blocks which you didn't get to see in the game.

Thanks again for the help, and for the run I got from running this for you guys :)

NOW WAIT JUST A SECOND!! Was it a trap or not? Were we all going to be blown up by mines?

If you went for the side gate, no. Before you ask how I know this, I was the one in charge of the enemy. The minute you got close enough to the walls you would've been broadsided with AT fire and the like.

The west gate was in fact not trapped at all, the upturned dirt and the signs were all tricks to get you to aim for the west gate which was a trap in rather massive proportions. Sections between the central forests were mined, and the walls were manned by the entire enemy force who had been laying low in wait for you to get close enough to spring the trap, there were several heavy weapons teams, mortars, spec ops, militia, and SATMS squads that would've been able to deal a rather fair blow from the opening part of the ambush.

And yep Taricus was the enemy commander.

Okay guys, new plan. Execute Taricus, then begin bombarding the walls!

That's cool, thanks for the great, albeit short, game. I'll be sure to join your next one.

Awesome. I love how you had another person control the enemy, I thought it was all AI. Meaning you. Anyway, will you be running a game with these mechanics?

I might, but at the moment I don't have any plans to.

Just a little bit of an FYI to adwarf, but codes with multiple line don't exactly show up particularly well in spoilers when posted. I learned that a while back when making a map for a game, before I discovered a different map-making utility (that looks surprisingly like the maps you've made).

I am aware, the reason they are pasted in as code is the select feature so that people can easily copy and paste it to the document program they use since its 1) easier to read there 2) easier to modify there and 3) can be saved there.
