You know, shelling the base you're trying to take over might not be a good idea. Just saying :P

I'm just saying a frontal assault might not be the best idea considering we've got nothing in the way of armor and we've been told this base is heavily fortified and resistant to arty. What's wrong with maybe trying to scale the walls or something? And if we were to try to sneak in, then firing shells at the place, ineffectively, would only tell them we were coming. :c

Artillery is going to be largely useless in this battle. The fort is sheltered against heavy bombardment, including aerial. The combat engineers(CE) will be the key to breaking through the walls. We can still shell them, but it won't have an immense affect.

Initial orders for CE: Two of the squads will swing wide and move up alongside the eastern hill/mountains; hopefully avoiding enemy fire. They will take one(more is acceptable) other squad of (unclaimed, unless someone volunteers) infantry as support; maybe a vehicle if available. When they reach a place near the wall but still not in direct firing lines, one CE squad will run to the wall/gate and plant the explosives. The infantry squad (maybe vehicle) will provide covering fire. If the first squad is killed and unable to plant explosives; the secondary squad will attempt to do the same. Otherwise, it will remain behind cover unless they are needed to replace the infantry as supporting fire. The final squad will move up with the rest of the infantry; attempting to destroy the wall/gate upon reaching it. (Final engineer squad is also available if someone else has a purpose they need engineers for. Orders revert to standard infantry commands once the wall is breached. (These commands are subject to revision)) EDIT: I can't read. -_- Okay. We get engineers after the mission.

(Something to note: If we're going to shell the fortress; the best place to do that would be at either of the gates. Those will be the weakest sections of the wall. And the most heavily guarded.)

Can you give us more concrete details about the walls and gates adwarf, or is that information not available during this phase?

(One problem. IIRC, we get the combat engineers... as a reward for winning this...

The walls cannot be destroyed by anything you guys currently have, the gates (when closed) will have 80 Hp on the one tile gate, and 160 HP on the two tile gate.

Just saying maybe it should be at night? Hopefully we can catch them when their sleeping {less troops gaurding or w.e} and get inside quickly. How i see it:

1. wait for nightfall.
2. once gaurd patrols reduce, move troops as quickly but as stealthily as possible to the gates. Snipers kept in the back or if we don't have those some regular rifles to keep point.
3. Those going forward should be LMG teams or again if nothing special militia from the last fight/rifleman.
4. get as close to the gate before having to fire. As quickly as possible take point at the gate and fire into the fortress to prevent enemy combatants from streaming through or holding the chokepoint WE want.
5. once we've pushed them back an all out charge.

However, we should watch them during the day because if they can scale walls this would be a bad idea.

Silly Worldmaster.

So can we climb the walls? Is that allowed? Seems like our only choice, but we might be able to do those gates with the RPGs if the guys get close.

If we put our infantry in the western most part of the deployment zone and try to get as close as possible using those trees as cover without being detected, then WhitiusOpus' Squad (vehicles) comes in from closer to the centre to make frontal assault to the western gate, and artillery and mortar squads behind them (covered by infantry squad?) fire inside the fort (first the gate, then behind the eastern gate to prevent enemy from attacking us from there) we could get most of our fire power aimed at that western gate and try to breach it and storm the fort. I would suggest waiting for the night and trying to get our infantry as close as possible, then go in guns blazing.

Then you get cities like Paris where you should basically just kill yourself already.

You won’t have to think anymore: it’ll be just like having fun!

If your infantry get to an empty section of wall they can spend an entire round to scale them, they won't be able to fire at all and the enmy will be able to fire at them.

Hang on a second, those supply vehicles, are they in the same colors as these arseholes?

Because if they are we can load them up with troops and send them in.

Also remember they are under seige with no reinforcements as such, we can keep them up many a nights with gun fire, and during the day have mortars going off {not directly at the fortress we dont want to break anything} to keep them from sleeping. Just a thought though i like the above plan.

+1 to his as it stands and without my input just now.

And besides, if we can just drive on in why dont we?

So lets hold off on the plan voting until bossman tells us if we can sneak in trucks of troops by saying its ammo.
