Starlord [Sci-Fi TSG]
« on: April 17, 2014, 06:55:48 pm »

It all started when they found you in your cryopod. Three figures, two in white, the one in the middle a tall figure with imposing clothing. Their faces were blurry and you couldn't hear them properly. They took you to another room, all in white, and performed tests on your body. You still felt sick and you couldn't tell what was going on. When your vision and hearing started to clear, you could finally see your captors. The two men in white were not completely human. They had greyish skin with black orbs for eyes. They had no hair and their fingers were long and slimy when they touched you. You recoiled back in fear.

They had spoken something to you in a different language, something you can remember, but it was different. It was English, but the words were changed and pronounced differently, as well as completely new words being said. They connect two tubes to your eyes, two your ears, and some wires to your head. You jumped as you learned their language, all in a flash. The tubes and wires come off, and you fall to your knees, vomiting. Helping you to your feet, the door opened. The third figure from before had come in. He looked human, much more than the other two, but his ears were slightly pointed.

He explained what happened to you. You were found thousands of years later in your cryopod. Humanity has come a long way, colonizing thousands of planets. They've even discovered alien life! However, according to their laws, aliens were not allowed to be citizens in the human kingdom. You ask about the two grey men, and the third laughs. They were human, more than 51%, and so were allowed to become citizens. Hierarchy was based on how human you were. The true humans nearly died out, and most interbred with alien races. The royal family and the noble Houses all kept themselves mostly human, with the odd alien here and there.

You were tested. They found you to be the most human of all the citizens, and therefore legible to be noble. The two grey men excitedly asked you about life in the past, but you realize you have amnesia. You can't remember anything. You can still speak, read, write and do basic stuff, but you can't remember who you are, why you were in that pod, or what your name is. The grey man look down in disappointment and ask the third man what to do with you, referring to him as Prince. They said they had no use for you any longer. The Prince smiles and replies that you were incredibly useful: another pureblood human legible to rule. You reply that you have no idea how to rule.

The Prince laughs. "Do not worry, pureblood. By birthright, you are noble. Ruling is your right. You shall start with a piece of land, answering to another lord, and to his lord, and that lord's lord. But in time you will learn and rise. Such is the way of the human race."

He calls for someone, and a fourth man enters the room, tall, pale, in red robes and a weird-shaped hat. "Pureblood. What is thy name, so that your subjects may refer to you in honor."

This is weird.

GM Note: This is a game inspired by games like Lordship and Heirship, but in space [If Maldevious or Gervassen don't approve, I'll take it down]! Anywho, your lot in this life is determined by how much of your lineage is pure human. By far, you are the most human, next to the Emperor. Planetary life is mostly medieval-ish, with some sci-fi weaponry. The richer the planet, the more developed, but those planets belong to the Houses or the royal family.

"Lilly Harkonnen, pureblood of Old Earth. I name thee Lady of the land Kenus on the World Torus V." The old alien closes his scroll and barks commands to two guards in white-cloth armor. They escort you to a small shuttle, seat you, push coordinates into the mainframe and sends you off to Torus. The shuttle makes it to Torus V in about ten minutes, using faster than light travel to take you to the system. The world of Torus V resembles Earth somewhat, but you've been told it was just terraformed not long ago, about a hundred years or two. The shuttle lands on the land of Kenus, forested and hilly. As you disembark, a tall man with a wiry build and reddish skin greets you. He bows lowly.

"My Lady Harkonnen. This one bids you welcome to our humble land," he says in a deep voice. "This one's name is Toel'ix, but many pure masters find it hard to pronounce, so you may call me Steward, if it please you."

"So, where's my castle and all my servants?"

"The council deemed the land itself worthy enough of a gift. They believed that you, as pureblood, must build your own household. Do not worry, my lady, for this one is at your disposal. The land is fertile, forested, and with game. A village lies to the north, by the river. They are lowborn settlers, fit for your desires. Merely call upon them and they shall serve."

The sky is still bright. You think that it is around seven in the morning, but the time could be different. A battered, dirt road goes to the north, by the forest and the river. A horse stands ready next to your steward, scrawny and underfed, but with a proud mane and chestnut color.

Head to the village. Find an abandoned house/build ourselves a manor.

(Any other suggestions?)

You ride to the town, led by your steward who proceeds on foot. It takes half an hour. You ride clumsily, gripping on the reins with sweaty palms. The bumping is hurting your rear, and you give a sigh of relief when you reach the town. It's a small fishing village, the houses are battered, poorly made, and covered with straw thatches. The villagers look to you in awe. Not a lot of them have seen pureblood humans. You still don't get what the deal is with this pureblood thing. There are around ten villagers, half-dressed, and poorly equipped. Their tools literally fall apart before your eyes.

The steward walks up to the town. "Oz'eb tribe! Heed this one's call. Before you stands Lady Harkonnen, your new pureblood master. You are to serve her faithfully, and bring Kenus glory." The villagers bow. They have greyish-white skin, pale red eyes, and a lean, tall build. Their hair is faded, and their hands are full of cuts. In their chest is a brand. The men wear no shirts, so the brand is clear to see. The women have it on their stomachs, so their vestments have a hole in the belly area.

"Those brands determine how pure they are, my lady," the steward says, seeing your curiosity. "They are lowborn. The second lowest caste, next to the chainborn."

You ask if there is an abandoned house which you may stay in, or if they could help build a manor. They don't seem to have the tools to build a large manor, but there is an abandoned shack nearby. It's rundown and dirty, but one of the oz'eb offers to clean and repair it. However, they are fishers, so they don't have much experience building. There are baskets near the river filled with fish and eels.

Make sure the village has a fishing dock. Ask our steward about the surrounding lands.

Institute a levy of a fish (off your choseing) per week from every fisherman as a tax, after all we got a eat.

A smoke house or salting house will be needed to help store fish(and more tax's for us.) so let see bout getting one made.

Year 1, February
You check the river, seeing if the town has a dock. There is a small makeshift one, which can hold a few small boats or a big boat at the most. You ask your steward about the neighboring lands and villages.

"My lady, to the north is the hold of Lord Bronton, a halfborn elevated to lordship a few decades ago. Brontown is his hold, a town of average size, focusing on crops and livestock," the steward answers. "Far to the south is the hold of House Camden. They rule this world, and your tithes will go to them come September. They will take fish, crops, goods, or coins, and when the call for battle sounds you must be ready to join them."

You tell your steward to institute a levy of fish per week. Any kind will do. You also order a smoking or salting house to be built to store the fish. They have trouble setting it up, but it more or less gets set up. It won't hold much, and you don't have a lot of salt or firewood.

GM Note: Turns will be in months, not counting roleplay turns.

Fix up the village, organize a monthly market (although most won't have anything worth selling yet) check to see if our village has any marketable skills, and try to learn the language from our steward.
