Give the traders permission to go sell stuff at the fair. This summer find some recruits and get some training from the the captain we shall not be weak. Oh and try and get the cybervant programmed so it has better fighting skills. (sorry i was in a rush and i was excited.)

Prophet not trying to be mean but restructure that sentence so the GM has a easier time reading it. Your most likely excited for this game as I am but good suggestions are always easy to read.

Don't have Captain program the cybervant, but do have him train us. Privately, though. No lowborn should see their liege being tossed about in a brawl.

Get volunteers for now from the idle lowborn to train as militia. If they need weaponry, make quarterstaffs or spears from wood. A well-used quarterstaff can be just as lethal as a sword.

Have the craftsmen produce jewellery for us first before producing trade goods such as the aforementioned statues. We could do with the shiny parts to go with our high blood.

Well, I actually would say that the warchilite crafters should do as they wish. They ought to know what sells far better than we. Just tell them that we will trust their judgement until proven otherwise. Else, I would be more in favour of a sword and armour than more jewellery, but I think the later two can wait. The sword will have any n'er do wells think twice about attacking us, whereas more jewelery just makes us so much more of a "mark" for them.

Far more important, unless I over-read that part, we have yet to hand out a reward to the eel-captors. Which should be a pretty hefty reward, as far as I am concerned. I mean, a handfull of mere fishermen caught a beast that sinks whole ships? I say we give them a fair enough cut of the money. As in - actually far more than a lowborn normally would recieve.

Additonally, we allow them a choice - They can choose to be extempted from the draft - they have proven their valour more than enough. O~r they can prove their valour further, and will recieve some position in our soon-to-be men at arms. Obviously that would mean that we extempt them from their previous line of work.

+1 it should be a public ceremony attended by all in our domain {on penalty of death should anyone miss it} to reward the brave fisherman who used improvised weapons to beat up a giant fish that is known to sink entire ships. I also agree with letting the craftsmen make what they think uses the least amount of warchillite {this should be rationed} and make good money to help improve the village. Furthermore we should take our pots and some {not ALL} of our excess fish sell. Tell the traders to tell the entire trade fair of the opportunities of moving here.

We should also give a reward to whichever trader can get more immigrants to come {they have to prove they came by signing their names on a paper}. Not only will this encourage people but show our benevolence. Also find architects and more Ex-Military or hardy boys as the "captain" said for our militia. I want to get started on living in a small 4-room noble manner. The manor will have a living room, dining room, study, and our bedroom.

-1 on ceremony, especially the penalty of death.

If we want to be prosperous, we need to look the part. We should look suitable for our station. Lurker, it's a problem already if we get attacked by bandits. Rather than a sword we don't really know how to use, we should instead have guards. Maybe a concealed weapon, and use our noble looks to lure enemies off guard.

Combat is dangerous, and any bandits would not be alone, especially for attacking a town. We would not have enough skills to fend off a group.

Also, the SpiteEel is not known to destroy entire ships on it's own. It's known to attack them en masse, and sink them like that.

The execution thing was a joke actually oops  :-[.

Well maybe we don't want to flaunt too much in that case however, we NEED guardsman and scouring the trade fair for some small bands of "hardy boys" would be in our long-term interest.

I think that we can start off with a local militia and recruit men from the fair later we do have all winter I didn't see when the fair was going to be held but I doubt that they are going to hold it out in they middle of winter. (That was a giant man eating ell though so they are pretty bad a** catching it in one go with no training.)

I live right at the line between the south and north on the east coast of the United states so winter lasts a few months longer.

Well what i meant by months is that it stays cold even in the beginning of spring so it sucks. I'm wondering that too how long does each season last?

+1 It would be a good incentive to join the militia.

Year 2, January
You bid the warchilite craftsmen do as they wish, as long as it sells for the best price with the least used for each product. By the end of the first week they produce some very fine busts of great heroes in warchilite. In's estimates that these could be very valuable, if they found the right customer. You debate whether getting more jewelry for yourself or a sword that you don't know how to use to ward off bandits.

Speaking of swords and fighting, you decide to train with the Captain. The training goes well, and you end up in bruises and cuts, but you feel much more confident in your skills already. You've trained in hand-to-hand combat, as well as using the short sword.

You remember to reward the eel captors. You bring them in, four young youths who wanted to prove themselves, and they did. You reward them all with a handsome sum of money, not enough to be a significant loss, but far more than what lowborn receive. They seem overwhelmed at all the money and are puzzled with what to do with it. In fact, they give the money back to you.

"Pardons, m'lady. We are but servants, and we've no use for coin. The reward we ask for is to use the coin to better our village. Our shacks are crumbling, as is yours. Pardons, but we believe that you should not suffer with us, m'lady. There's tell of many a great builder in Sir Haxton's village. They could build you a fine manor."

You also ask if they wish to be exempt from the militia draw, or be guaranteed places into the militia. Three of them wish to join, but the fourth declines, wishing to remain a simple fisher. You also draw two more volunteers from the village. The Captain starts training them with quarterstaves and spears. Training goes well, and they learn how to properly use the weapons by the end of the month. They also get into better shape.

The faire is in two months, and Camden's wedding is in five."
