So the options are to buy a whole bunch of stuff that allegedly sells good where we're going, according to Mr. Trade Guy who totally does not have any ulterior motives for telling us to buy stuff from him, or to hold on to more of our money as insurance for now.

...Considering we're trying as hard as we can to claw our way out of bankruptcy, I think we should go for the aggressive purchasing option and if it falls through option #2 is the "cut and run".

OTOH, it could be that by the time that we show up at this farming community with foodstuffs, they've solved the problem on their own. Oh wait, farming takes for goddamn ever, we should be okay.

Also, inb4 it turns out these pirates are from Raven Sword PMC.

EDIT: Wait, if there's a bunch of miners in that town suddenly, shouldn't we bring a bunch of alcohol? Miners drink alcohol like water at the end of their shift, I should think.

Yes and no. On the one hand, alcohol is nice. On the other hand, the only ones we have are high quality alcohol which makes less likely to sell to poor miners. The reason they need so much food is cause of the sudden influx of people. As it is, they should have need for food and surplus of gens. Also remember that we only have room for 111 barrels and right now we have 75 barrels of stuff. And yes, I'm trusting the dude.

You should say something in the IC thread before I have to borrow Haskitty's plushie mallet, Tir. >:3

Thinking about buying this:
20 barrels meat (2880 gold)
10 barrels berries (720 gold)
6 barrels wine (1248 gold)

1152 gold remaining of Descartes Company, 1000 gold of personal cash

Thoughts? This could let us look at the market as well, it fills up 111 barrels which means we have no space left. I dunno.

Took me a day to come to this realization, but...
Dustinori
Swordstar, I think the Haskitty is shipping our characters.  8)

As for the purchases, I think we should focus more on meat, less on berries; maybe sacrifice a couple (or 5, for round-ness) barrels of berries for moar meats. The profit margins should be higher... right?

Or...shortening it creatively. :P

Shouldn't this be done IC? :P
We...don't know the market prices for all our goods, right?

We know some of the prices, by which I mean we know the current prices here for things. We don't know about them in the next port or the next, etc. Maybe buying more meat would be better, I unno. Also Tiruin, there's no reason to just talk about it here since theoretically Dustine's just making all the calls.

You can give whatever advice you want! That's why I started the discussion over here. So that it's not just me making decisions.

Well~
I've noticed that goods and profit depend on what they buy and sell as. Given how economy in general goes, there's only a slight deviation in most buy/sell prices...unless you're buying in the underground...though! I'd advice to buy the higher-priced commodities compared to the bulk-and-cheap ones due to that observation on deviating values!
More profit per...weight(?)...number?

There's some truth in that yeah, but there's also the point of we're heading to a port that has lots of opals and not a lot of foodstuff. Also, wrt your post, we're not currently on a ship, we're in a building. You're with the rest of the group, or should be.
