PeredexisErrant v52 Doesn't Turn Off Aquifers?
« on: April 16, 2014, 07:59:46 am »

So I downloaded the latest version of PeredexisErrant's Lazy Newb Pack (and first off, thanks for keeping this up, truly a community service!)

I notice, however, when I gen a world using it, even with Aquifers set to "No", I still get aquifers everywhere in the world.  Is there something else to change to keep the waterballoons at bay?  Earlier versions worked fine.

I'm new to succession forts in general, yes, but do all forts designed by multiple overseers inevitably degenerate into a body-filled labyrinth of chaos and despair like this? Or is this just a Battlefailed thing?

I thought the aquifer simply would not be there when you embark on it while they are turned off.

Can you find [AQUIFER] tags in your raws (e.g. inorganic_stone_soil.txt)? I think what PELNP does is the same as is suggested on the wiki, i.e. remove/re-add those. You can also do it to the region file yourself to be rid of them permanently.

Just changed from r33 or something like that to r52 myself.

P.S. said pack has it's own thread in DF General Discussion. You can get help here, but if this really is an error with the pack, that would be the place to post about it.

OK, thanks... yeah, I'm not too keen on monkeying around in the raws, which is why I posted to see if this was a general problem or a "me" problem  :)

Looks like there's (yet another) new version out, so I may just upgrade to that and try to gen another world.

You can check whether the tags are there without worrying about breaking anything, though; just remember not to save any changes when notepad asks you about it when you close the file(s).

Like I said, I'm on r52, so I wouldn't know. r53 didn't add anything I wanted right now, while I had a "live" fort, so I didn't update yet.
