Would like to pause game on new mayor, and/or new mandate
« on: April 14, 2014, 09:06:07 am »

Is there a way to configure dwarf fortress to pause and recenter whenever a new mayor is elected, or one of the nobles makes a mandate? Would be far more useful than a quick message that just passed on by unnoticed....

Take a look at announcements.txt in the init folder, if those already give messages you can set them to pause and recenter/give a box popup.

Unfortunately, I've already looked in announcements.txt, mandates and mayors aren't listed. However, the very useful "Notify when a new beard is born" is listed, so at least that rather useless announcement won't result in a pause and recenter any more. But mayors and mandates still slide by without notice. Would at least like to know if a new mayor is elected (so at the very least, I can assign rooms to the noble). And mandate notification would also be useful, either in setting laborers to fill the mandate, or planning for an "unfortunate accident" in case the mandate is unreasonable. Unfortunately, mandates and demands seem to outlive the dwarf's time in office. Rather annoying that little feature. If the dwarf is no longer mayor, why is the mandate set while in office still in effect?
