The cable car rather suddenly begins climbing up the cable. Wait, how is it staying horizontal? That cable is at a rather significant  incline. 

...and yet, long before it gets there, a shape can be seen gliding down from the aerostat. CUE INDIANA JONES THEME.

The priest disappears while everyone is too busy looking at the Aerostat.

Dany show up later in his thief rig because like hell he is going to not steal from a race in a technological singularity.

INDIANA JONES THEME STILL PLAYING.

The figure glides in and skids to a halt, flapping its wings furiously as it lands softly in front of Louie. The cable car is still on its way up.

One gets the feeling someone else is reacting just like Ellen is.

Anyways, behold the majestic Avali in its not so natural habitat. This specimen stands about four feet tall, although it's crouching as it just came i n for a landing. It stands on its toes (digitigrade!) and is clearly bird-like in other respects, what with all the feathers and little claws. It is also cold and smells faintly of floor cleaner. It has four ears and massive adorable eyes.

This one is male, and is brightly decorated with red feathers and patterning. He wears a set of stylish aviator goggles (properly sized of course) and wraps himself in enoguh of a trenchcoat and cloak, sheer black, to almost appear as noir as Miranda. Almost.

The critter speaks in fast, lyrical chirps which translate themselves to English a moment later. Despite the translator, he somehow still manages to sound totally badass.

??: "My name is Brauri! You rang?"

It seems that this mage has the usual odd sense of fashion. At least its better than the usual dusty old cloaks...
"I saw my church's insignia upon your tower. I wanted to inquire as to our present location."

The climber reaches the top!

Meanwhile, Brauri crowds around Louie, examining him at uncomfortably close proximity. Curious little critter he is.

Brauri: "Which insignia would that be? We  advertise many products! Some of it is paid promotion, others are our own internal ads for novels and such."

((He doesn't realize that. That thought about wizards having an odd sense of fashion? It wasn't just referring to the trenchcoat, goggles and cloak. He is under the impression that Brauri is an eccentric wizard who dresses up as a fluffy space raptor.))
Louie gestures to his Church's insignia, which was inscribed upon the honeycomb-like central segment of his buckler.

Brauri examines it closely, ears pitching towards it, then nods furiously.

Brauri: "Yes, that symbol is on the cover of our new animated book, The Gods Are Also Fire! I believe Asimi found a church of that denomination and obtained their permission to use the beliefs in the book, along with a  number of other popular local  faiths. It's okay. We probably didn't offend anyone and we're not anti-religious, I swear."

The cable car is coming down now. The little  space raptor is definitely nervous for some reason.

[Empiricist]

((Size-shrinking spell. Or midget wizard.))
"No, I'm not offended. You know how it is? Going somewhere unfamiliar and seeing something that reminds you of home? Well, that's the case for me right now, I thought you may have been a colleague who could tell me where I am. Thank you for your time."

Brauri: "Ah, you're welcome..."

The cable car arrives and another two critters step out, a bluish, slightly less wild male and a much more subdued and differently patterned (a soft brown and orange of sorts) female. The  male bonks Brauri and they proceed to chatter in Avalispeak. It's clear that whatever it is, the brash goggle-head is rather embarrassed.

With nothing else to do, Louie marches off to purchase a copy of The Gods Are Also Fire!
