Can I train against my own gladdy? Curious mostly.

Accept challenge! Teach Leon to play cards when he's not training!
Blow cash in order to pay myself to train with the gladdy. This should be good.
How much cash?
As much as it takes to get him to the level cap of co- WAIT YOU'RE NOT THE GM.

Have Jig train endurance by running in parks and such. Set aside 16 gold pieces for bribes(of guards), compensation(of scared people/animals), and the extra food he'll need to eat for him to do this training.

And accept their challenge.

Hopefully he wins and levels up. Otherwise, I'm in trouble.

Do gladiators gain experience even when they lose? They should. It would be kinda silly and nigh-impossible to get up to snuff otherwise. I mean, if they lose, it's still rather expensive to heal 'em, after all...

-34gp for training

The amount of cash you spend on Leon isn't much more than a dent in your coffers. Still... It was quite frustrating even getting him to show up to the damned session. You decided that thumping him in the head over and over until he did what you said was a good enough training for the day. If nothing else he certainly seems to be listening to you now.

Well... That could have gone better. Not only did you not need the 16 gold pieces for bribes and food you didn't even need to ask Jig to train his endurance by running. Little crazed bastard decided it was high time to go on a fucking rampage on a large amount of flower shops and... well he evaded capture and managed to procure some lamb chops in the process. That's the important part. Also, he doesn't seem winded at all despite all the running. Apparently, this is old hat for him.

They do gain some, unless it was a death match [obviously]. It's usually negligable and you will NEVER level up from a loss. The money issue is one I'm trying to work through.

If I'm honest, Level 0 is a test for the system. The game should open up a LOT once you hit level 1.

So wait, how does business income work?  I must have missed it if it's in the rules.

It isn't. I just give out 50gp a turn. It's not supposed to really carry your team for long. It's real purpose is to help the starter-ups. The main source of your income should be gambling and winning legues and battles and such.

It also would seem to make losing impossible.

Hm... It would appear that way wouldn't it?

Ominous, Ominous

But I figure that in time the Upkeep will outpace it. In about... Two fame levels or so depending on Gladiators purchased. Income is literally just a cushion.

Nerjin, that was me saying 'spend 16 gp to train Jig'. Did the training fail or something?

Accept challenge. Attempt to hire the alchemist to make various battle poisons, sleep toxins, aerosols and the like for my champion (keep the discussion focused on the legal aspect, but allow hints of other opportunities as well.

A note for the color text. Pretty isn't repulsed by ugliness, she sees the world a little differently. Some say it is because her beauty transcends and transforms the mundane. Poets are stupid like that. Also, I'd like her to have a more agreeable attitude toward her rather pleasant gladiator.

If there is time before our first match, have Ugly Jerry train.
One more thing: Can we spend gold to self promote - increase fame? If so, do so. (I should get a head start on this if others jump on the bandwagon).

I'll flavor this up later but you need to tell me how much you're paying for Ugly Jerry's training, as well as how much you want to spend trying to hype up your match. The Hype thing is a little more difficult to put a "X for Y" relationship on because all it will do is bring more audience members into the match so you will get more fame, though if the match is a wash you will lose more. The easiest way to think of it is "Spending Money to Hype = Increases the Fame won/loss".

I'll spend 20 gold pieces on hype, additionally.
