30 gold.

Also league check and whatnot.

Oh, also, how do you calculate total upkeep? Add all the percentage changes together for the final, or one at a time(if so, in what order?)

Find a trainer and pay them 25 Gold to train Wernher. Also, I'll pay High Upkeep too. League check.

(What part of the turn are we in, and how long until we move to the next part?)

(EDIT: 3 new replies...)

Wha part of the turn? Pre-game. Hence the title. When we start it'll change to [Week 1] and... yeah.

Basically I figured you'd guys would want to actually get a gladiator before I started throwing stuff at you.

If you both consent? Yes. You run gladiator schools. It'd be pretty lame if I said "Fight people! But not those five...".

You can team up with others [though it's usually a bad idea due to the fact that you split the fame and XP and money and... basically everything] or fight against them. Basically anything. Just state that you're challenging them to a Grudge Match [or whatever you want to call it] and if they accept you're added to the program.

That's most of the game, so I assume yes.

Speaking of which, the good news (for me) is that it takes 4 hits to kill Jig by anyone but the Cheater and the Imp(3 hits from each, if the poison hits), and he can kill anyone but the Imp in 3 hits. Disregarding misses, of course. Which means against the cheater it's just whoever goes first last round, and against the Imp it's hoping he misses and I go first.

Is there a downside to refusing a challenge?

EDIT: And will Jig NEVER follow battle plans, or just when he's feeling arbitrary and unloved?

There is no downside [currently] to refusing a challenge. There IS a downside to not doing anything for too long as it can cause your fame to decrease.

Usually? He will never follow battle plans. I'm considering changing that for it to be around a 25% chance of him following them.

Yeah, that would be a game breaker for the worse otherwise.

Combat's pretty simplistic. It's not quite so bad for the low level where it'll usually be 1v1 fights. Even if it weren't he's a Adjacent attacker so his options for fucking around are pretty limited.

Yeah, it still is kind of crumby from a players perspective for your unit to not listen some times.

That was kinda the point. Yeah it sucks, but you'll have more than just one gladiator for most of the game. You don't need too terribly much fame to get your second gladdy. Plus you can just fire the guy and hire a new one.
