Boolean Query: Possibility of individual aid and portrayal for economic purposes or in research?

((or, basically, I've never played this game, is there any chance for a "dwarfing" of sorts in economic or research stuff?))

Most you can get is a city with your name.
Also Transcend? We're screwed. Better abuse crawlers.

You can also chose the name for your unit types.

Consciousness gets plus two to research and efficiency, and steal tech when they capture a base. We start with applied physics and information networks, meaning we can make laser units and build network nodes at the start. Our only downside is -1 growth.

Playing this game again, I'm amazed at how bad I am at it.

Maaan, out totes-future-bells and whistles-HUD suuuuuucks.
It was designed in the 90's, give them a break.
Not the 2090's either. Guess they shouldn't have given the UI work to the lowest bidder.

This unit suggests scouting west.

IMHO the UI fits the whole "desperate to survive on an alien world" kinda vibe the early game has.

Aaaanyway...

Subroutine "MonkeyHead" notification: IIRC hills fgacing north/west tend to have more moisture and hence are greener - suggest keeping that colony pod heading NE along the NW facing ridge to find a good base spot. Whatever you do keep it away from the fungus patch in the SE.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
[spoiler]This is covered in a thinggummywotsit about why don't the humans use their nanites or turrets or something against the mindworms. The mindworms still wreck all minds, even mechanical ones - and it's worse when they're simple algorithms from robots and shit. What the cyborgs gain in relative fearlessness they lose in functionality.

Local news at 5: Colony lost.
The flame guns continue working throughout the night here to cleanse the tragic aftermath of a mind worm incursion late yesterday afternoon, no colonists are reported as being lost, however the suddenness of the perimeter breech called for strong countermeasures, the perhaps heavy handed reaction led to the complete destruction of all primary infrastructure at the colony. While housing areas in the east weren't affected, they are still being 'cleansed' as it's been known that boils can hiberate inside abandoned infrastructure. Evactuation continues from the government center where the final defensive perimeter was established, no injuries except for light extremely severe third degree burns are reported. The population are expected to be resettled in nearby gamma quadrant next month.

Moving to a new nearby house due to problum. LP on hold.

They're nearly as bad as badgers. Build a couple of anti-buzzard SAM sites marksdwarf towers and your fortress will look like Baghdad in 2003 from all the aerial bolt spam. You waste a lot of ammo and everything is covered in unslightly exploded buzzard bits and broken bolts.

Depends on how the cyborging works. I'd expect that the brains would still be 100% carbon.

And I'd be impressed by anyone who made a mechanical sentient AI.

But who's to say that, if intelligence had evolved in some other form in past millennia, the ancestors of these beings would not now scoff at the idea of intelligence residing within meat?

Sounds like they're building a mechanical body for an electronic intelligence.

And nobody can afford upgrades like Morgan.  While Yang and Domai field swarms of ancient units, Morgan's army should always be state-of-the-art.
Domai fields the best units he can [providing he has the tech] and Yang especially always fields the best, up to date units available. When your industry is that good you can easily afford to spare tens to hundreds of units, swapping them out for the latest thing or just upgrading them if they're of particularly high morale. The only aggressive faction that can't afford to keep a full roster of up to date units without having superiority over other factions is believers, who do not have the research nor the industry to churn out high tech legions. Which I guess is the point.

The Captain was assassinated and the crew is rioting. Head of Security Yang was murdered, the leg of a chair shoved into his eye and out the other end.
Reading back on this, I do hope someone made sure to double tap.
How horrifying it would be to see Yang rise from the U.N. wreck, one eye still set on building his human hive...
