EDIT: Found on this thread that actually is impossible to have a failure, once you launch your ship it will be 100% safe to reach Alpha Centauri. The success rate only determined how many points did you get from it...

My ship exploded midflight, but all the shrapnel totally landed on Alpha Centauri before anyone else did.  Bow before me world leaders!
This is actually the plot of Alpha centauri, your ship explodes but the shrapnel contains enough politics and drama to infect the planet anyway.

They're nearly as bad as badgers. Build a couple of anti-buzzard SAM sites marksdwarf towers and your fortress will look like Baghdad in 2003 from all the aerial bolt spam. You waste a lot of ammo and everything is covered in unslightly exploded buzzard bits and broken bolts.

To be fair, it exploded because of that politics and drama, and not because you were a cheap world leader and thought you could launch it with one less engine component.

Also, Captain Garland got assassinated. It's funny, the game only mentions him a couple of times but I always empathized with the guy a lot. Imagine having to Captain the AC faction leaders...

Can I bother you guys again with some testing for whoever is up for it? Still working on that mod. I more or less finished the new tech web, improvements and buildings. Still need to work on the wonders, building perks, virtues and affinity boni. I could really use some feedback.
Oops forgot, currently only supported in english.

Why not "release" through Steam Workshop? You may get more people trying things and feedback than just from us.

Although I can understand you might want alpha guinea pigs before doing a public release (even if you tag it publicly as WIP/alpha).

Well the faction leaders can generally get on okay as long as they're not specialising in ideology, so it's probable that he simply convinced all the factions (as they existed anyway. I don't believe it was as concrete as after he was assassinated, more loose allegiance to an ideal that people would have. Certainly not any sort of rigid structure like the pseudo-national factions down on Planet.) of their ability to cooperate without compromising the integrity of their ideals.

Eh I don't like things getting released half finished, nevermind that I don't care for the steam userbase. Don't think I'll release it anyway, just making it for fun.
Also because the bay 12 community generally is a lot more pleasant and intelligent, and I don't visit that many other forums. :)

I'm wondering if I should have a crack at implementing religion once I finish with this, or if I should just wait for firaxis to do it. They've already done most of the designing so it would probably be in the pipeline for their next expansion.
Hmm I wonder what kind of religious buildings they'd have in this setting.

I can understand not wanting to release it half finished, but I think a lot of people are dying for a good mod of this and so I'd thoroughly encourage you to share what you've worked on so that other people can benefit from your improvements.

With enough work and polish, it could have been a forgettable flash game on Kongregate.

It's definitely worth it to release if you're playing it yourself in anything other than a bug testing capacity. If you do it on steam workshop you don't even have to interact with the people who download it.

I mean, I'm sure like 80% of all gamers use steam and steam workshop is more convenient. If not, at least put it up on Moddb - they're a nice bunch there.

I feel obliged to point out that Steam doesn't exist on XBox or Playstation.

I'm sure that the combined console users don't amount to more than 20% total of gamers  8)

You should really look to the wilderness for your stealth ideas, it has been doing it much longer than you have after all. Take squids for example, that ink trick works pretty well, and in water too! So you just sneak into the dam upsteam, dump several megatons of distressed squid into it, then break the dam. Boom, you suddenly have enough water-proof stealth for a whole city!
