I have to confess to being crazy for all things 'zombie' related, and the more games the better. There are only so many 'fantasy' MMOs people can make before you get sick of pointy ears and large beards.

Anyhooo...this looks pretty good, it'll be interesting to see how it develops and whether it will provide a more balanced and fun experience than DayZ. Too many little COD kiddies play the latter and spoil it for everyone else.

Eeeeeh.

I'm put off by PvP games with PvE Being a side distraction ::)

It just seems that everyone uses the chance to fuck up new people, and despite the whole banditry thing also being a thing, I dunno... I mean, if there's a skill system and all and once a character's dead they're dead, it'll be really hard to continue with the same enthusiasm when you first started because, Billy Bob, who you put six hours a day into is now dead because someone shot him when you were offline or not paying attention.

Then again, it may be my dislike of zombie MMOs in general.

Regardless, I'll try this, but I'm unsure if I"ll like it :P

Seems like they want to set it above most open world zombie survival games out there by letting the player build forts and stuff, and a large focus on player competition. Sounds like it could be good actually, will keep an eye on this should they deliver.

RO:OST
Ragnarok Online:  Original Soundtrack?  I have no idea what that stands for.

Also oh man, a zombie game!  That's almost as underdone as comments about how there are lots of zombie games!

If they actually go for a non-themepark MMO, I will be surprised and delighted.  Active economies and building would be neat.  Permadeath sounds like it'd be reeeally aggravating if levels in skills and stuff are going to be involved, and the influence of Day Z means rampant fear and mistrust of other players is probably going to be a thing.  Permadeath also seems a bit at-odds with if the rest of (my perceived) design choices - that is, building up something to make it last - which is a little euuh.

Given the apparent inability to howe2F2P; kinda hollow 'yeah that would be so cool right?'-sounding promises and generally sounding like alpha over-promising; and and the low-profile it seems to have, I expect disappointment.  Will hope to be pleasantly surprised.

Anti-Cheat is transferring over from Planetside 2, and is very successful over there.
I have no idea what this means except that it there is a weak inference that they are using Planetside 2's unoptimized engine thing.

Dynamic weather is being added. rain is just getting to the point of actually making the ground wet, character shining a bit, bushes wet, etc.
When I think sodden and miserable, I think shiny!

I should have specified. Red Orchestra: Ostfront, it was the mod-turned-game the makers of Killing Floor made before they actually made Killing Floor.

At first I was a excited that perhaps this would be good, but my optimism had quickly waned. While I want games to be good, I suspect that they are going to be going for what is popular at this moment instead of trying to innovate in the way the game plays. Sure they can have the largest worlds they want with as many people as they want but until they give a reason for you to not kill people you meet on sight then people are just going to do that. The building is probably the only thing I see that would make people band together, but if they don't give you a good reason to be building big forts then people are not going to do it, especially if you have to spend a lot of time on them just to have some jackass with a molotov cocktail come by and burn it all down.

Basically, I like PvP games if it doesn't try to pretend that it's PvE.

Zombies! When will game developers come up with something original?

Why can't they make a survival game just with 1950s style robots instead of zombies.  You know, Forbidden Planet or Lost in Space type robots to fight.

Yep, and it's not as if some other multiplayer game popularized the idea of an MMO zombie game.

Man, I had a character in that, but then he mysteriously vanished.  Grinding up to get a basic suite of abilities again sounded super-annoying, too, so bleh.

It wasn't even that secondary character in that one permadeath map!  I could still log into THAT guy (who basically had died instantly) to confirm that, yes, I was definitely irrevocably dead.

If it's going to be a PvP game I fail to see the point in letting players build anything.

The instant you log off the horde of 10,000 rabid 12 year olds will descend like locusts and burn everything to the ground, you will log back in to a smoking crater.

...

....who am I kidding? they won't wait till you log off to torch your stuff.

Well, they say that the servers will have different rules.
And minecraft is often PVP, and that contains building.
DayZ (both mod and standalone) either have building or will add it.

You never know. They probally will have something in the terms and conditions saying that they can ban you whenever. I know I would in the same situation.

The point isn't their ability to ban people, it's the ability to ban the right people. Anyway, having that in the terms and conditions would be terrible for PR because, judging by the way you phrase it, they could ban you for anything. Is that what you meant?

Sounds like they want to make more of a haven and hearth style mmo than a day z game.

Looks like an attempt to capitalise on DayZ success. Stylistically at least.
